For the same reason some customers are horrible - everyone is different.

some are fantastic and great at customer service its their vocation in life where as some are maybe more suitable as guards or prison wardens or maybe that horrible chap on on the buses
we are all people and we are all different some nice some not so nice

To be honest I have not heard of PI but FMC stands for file maintenance control. This is the department that deals specifically with the SELs and POS (large yellow Point Of Sale signs) so if you get an FMC manager at the desk when attempting an r&r it is likely that it will mean more to them than other duty managers. In terms of hierarchy, obviously you have a store manager, usually three/four senior managers underneath and then a load of departmental managers under them.
P.I stands for Productivity Index, its what the managers staff their departments to. Usually they are called the Compliance Manager.

    Store structure

    Store Manager
Customer Service Manager, Fresh Food Trading Manager, Grocery Trading Manager, Non Food Manager, Personnel Manager (all Senior Team)

Then the blue shirts and red ties are the section managers.

I have no idea. Despite numerous requests, Tesco Marketing still refuse to pass any of their ideas through me.

    Shame really

They broke the mould after they made Constantine :p and can you imagine never having another mis-price in Tesco ever again
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!

I myself have never YET been rude to a cs as I feel that they are only the employee and it's not their fault but some of them do take it a little personally.
Shokami I would definatly be paranoid at this, shes probably on the thread now:eek:

It is, but in that context it was Price Integrity (usually has a D on the end for Department)

Probably because they are put in a very difficult position - yes they are there to serve the customer and deal with problems, but at the end of the day they are paid by Tesco to do a job; unfortunately when that job results in them effectively handing out freebies, with the large amounts of products given away it can't really look good on them to their employers. They are at the front line, and it certainly must be difficult to deal with the pressures from their superiors telling them not to give things away, and the customer who may be looking for the opposite.

Ultimately if you are not happy with a decision a CSA gives ask for the manager - it's these guys who hide away and let the CSA take the flack.
It takes a special type of person to be CSD assistant, the flak they get is unbelieveable!! I was a Senior Manager until recently and i've seen things happen to the staff that are a total disgrace. I genuinely believe that if you approach in a calm and pleasent way (which most people do) you receive a far higher quality of service. They are very loyal to the company and do get a feel for the customers they serve, they remember serial r&r's, however they should still follow the policy.
