Tesco misprice discussion area part 14

It must be some kind of deliberate effort by Tesco to make SELs 1p over the actual price for certain products then put the correct price as a sticker on the book so R&Rs buy them.
Perhaps the security guys are looking out for people carrying big white books around with them, then bringing them back the next day for a refund. I did feel like when I bought a few of these books that I got a funny look from the cashier like something ticked when he saw my purchases, I'm very sure he was watching to see if I was watching the prices as they scanned through then watching to see whether I looked at my reciept as soon as a I got it.
... how funny ... I thought exactly the same last week ... bought Kerry Katona ... Chubby Brown ... and Take That for stocking fillers ... and all came in at the sticker price of £xx.96 and NOT £xx.97 as on the SEL ... it got me thinking that maybe Tesco are trying a little 'rue' ... customer thinks ooowah got me'self a nice little R&R ... and then at till scans correct ... x % of customers think 'oh what the heck' they will do for someone .... and Tesco got 'unplanned' purchases :eek:
... just my thoughts0 -
Those last two posts tie for todays "most paranoid post of the day" award.
Tin foil hats (to stop Tesco being able to read your minds) are in the postWho or what was I before you came in to my life

Sorry if I am missing the obvious here, but how could you tell?0 -
Hi,
I went to my local Tesco Stroe where they had the free standing display unit showing the price of £184.97; I thrn bought this, and it scanned at £197.94 I think.
I then paid for the product and went to the electrical desk where I was told that I would only get £10 difference. I asked why; then a manager came over and started speaking to me; saying I was now agreeing to a verbal contract; that I could not bring the XBox back; as he was telling me it was £194.97 and it wasn't overpriced. I said I have been overcharged; he said no you haven't; the sign is out of date; I said why is it on the floor. He said he doesnt know. I said if you are the head of electrical department; isnt your job to ensure that isn't on the floor; he said yes.
He said your agreeing to a verbal contract; I said no Im not; Im going to phone head office; he then said I am going to refuse the sale; and told me I cant have it. I phoned HO and he went away; after speaking to some other stuits he came backa nd said that there was none in stock; I said why are you advertising stock you dont have at a price you wont sell at?
He said it doesnt matter and that I will refund you the money now; I said no; I will wait for you to get tehm back in; he said he wont get any back in, I said between now and Christmas; you wont get any back in, he said no.
I took my recipet and gave him my details, and left teh store; I have the recipet to collect the xbox when they come back in store; and will pursue HO with the overcharge.
Am I in the right here; or is it all null and void.
I am thinkibng of emailing a letter to the MD and know a gentleman at a newspaper who maybe interested in some information.
The way I was treated was ridicolus, and I want to know what the next steps for me are;
Thanks0 -
