Hi, I have a bag of carrots and one stick of leek which I think has seen better days. I suppose I can chop the carrots and bung them in the freezer and likewise with the leek but any suggestions would be apreciated.

one of my favourite soups - especially at this time of year - is curried carrot soup. Fry an onion until soft, 1/2 tablespoon mild curry paste, 5 to 6 carrots chopped up. Pour over veg stock & simmer until carrots very soft, then blend. Makes me feel all warm & cosy just thinking about it :)

  • I have 3 big broccolli florettes to use up.

I also have a bag of dried figs that I don't know that to use for. I have lots of the usual cupboardy things too. Flour, sugar, gelitin, oats, etc...

    Any ideas, pretty please?

I'd either do stilton & broccoli soup (if you have the former - I always do as freeze it when discounted), or cheesey broccoli bake - like cauli cheese but green !

could you rehydrate the figs in something like orange juice, would be nice with other dried fruit too - then it should make a nice compote to go with yoghurt for breakfast?

ETA: something like this (but with less of the port if you're having it for breakfast!)

I have a big tub of glace cherries and not much else in. What can I make with them? I have no flour or anything like that so no cakes. :/

What should I do with the crumbly cereal bits that are always left at the bottom of the cereal box? Kids don't like them as they say it goes soggy when you add the milk. Seems such a waste!

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!!

Got bought an Italian hamper for Christmas with some lovely goodies in it but I am not sure what to make with some of them!

    1 x Artichoke Cream - No idea
1 x Traditional ‘Tajarin’ Egg Noodles - Open to ideas, stir fry?
1 x Rustic Meat Ragu - With pasta?
1 x Peaches in Syrup - Umm, with cream?
1 x Baci di Dama - No idea what this is!
1 x Black and white sweet truffles - I do know what to do with these!
1 x Panettone Tradizionale - Was once told to slice these and layer with whipped cream
1 x Lentils - Help, never cooked with these
1 x Cotechino al Barolo - Looks to be a sausage that needs heating
1 x Torrone Tenero del Nonno - Don't know what this is!

Any help to make me a bit creative will be welcomed :D

Mmmm; truffles are nice in creamy sauces, or pastas; I seem to remember Nigella puts truffles into her rice jar to flavour it without using up the truffle.

Lentil spaghetti, add a handful each time you do a mince dish to bulk out, lentil curry, lentil soup. The list is endless. Google is your friend for recipes!

A soft nougat thing...eat it! Or maybe cut into pieces, cover with chocolate to make into bars?

Any help to make me a bit creative will be welcomed :D

    Lucky you!
