Tmobile Sim only £80 Topcashback too good to be true?

Hi. I noticed tmobile were offering £80 cashback on their sim only deals via topcashback. It says you get the cashback after 3 months. I was thinking of getting 100 mins 100 texts and free 500 mb internet for £10 per month. This deal esentially makes it free for 8 months. And would work in an iphone. Am i missing something ? Has anybody gone for this recently ? Is there a limit per household ? Thanks

We will never know unless someone takes the plunge and be the 1st to try. I'm not into cashback deals personally , but some have used them with success .

I've used topcashback a lot in the past yer or two for both small and large claims.
Largest has been £90 and that was for changing gas/electric supplier.

If thats enough mins/texts for you then sounds like a good deal, £40 for a year after cashback assuming tis a min 12 month contract, or if not, flat out free for 8 months heh

It's 1 month rolling contract. What's to stop people getting the cashback after three months then cancelling after receiving the cashback? With £50 profit? I'm sure there must be a 1 sim limit per household because of this?
  • They're gambling on you either a) being happy with the service and staying, or b) being too lazy (or forgetful) to change.

In enough cases to make it worth their while, one of the above two scenarios will apply. If they didn't, they wouldn't do it.

So I order 4 sims and cancel after 3 months. Pocket £200! I don't think t mobile would honour more than 1 sim per household..

Well I took the plunge with a £10 a month 30 day rolling contract. (1st month is half price too !) It's tracked at £80 so fingers crossed! It's going in my daughters Iphone.

Sounds good - except when you actually read the "legal stuff", which contains this statement:-

"You'll have to promise to stay with us for 18 or 24 months and pass our standard credit check." "promise" is a vague term, but in theory they may charge a termination fee equivalent to an 18 moth contract. There may be more detailed t&c but I couldn't find those without ordering or wading through the full t&c which will be on there somewhere.

    Where do you see this?

    SIM Only 30 day

To join our SIM only 30 day plan you'll have to pass our standard credit check. Your monthly payment is for your inclusive minutes and texts from the UK to the customers of UK mobile networks and numbers starting with 01, 02 & 03 at any time. This doesn't cover Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
Calls to customer services on 150 from your T-Mobile phone cost 25.5p if you speak to an advisor. If you decide to upgrade or cancel your contract you'll need to give 30 days notice to us by phone. You'll need a compatible mobile which may mean your phone needs unlocking. Your previous network provider may charge you to do this.

Yes 30 day rolling contracts are just that. 30 days. The only proviso for the cashback is that you stay 3 months to qualify. This was confirmed by a rep for topcashback and tmobile state this in their t &c's on the topcashback tmobile page...

I have now found the 30 day rolling sim only contract; previously I had gone via pay monthly (where I found the above). Bearing in mind that it will be at least three months before payment and then you have to give 30 day's notice (they charge 25p for the call using the same sim) you'd need to pay for at least three and a half months. Well worth it IF you get the cashback. In times past I'd have definitely gone for it, but nowadays cashback sites (including this one) don't always pay up (and I definitely don't need the minutes etc).

If it works, you get more than 100% return in four months. If it doesn't you lose around £36 (unless the undle is of use to you of course). The question is, do you feel lucky?
