In your original post you said that you paid over £1000 for this tv.
So they are going to refund you over £800.
    Is that right?

£800 will probably buy an equally good television today.
In fact your tv is now available from some sellers for £814 new. Like here. (ok, not a mainstream seller, but this is over a year old technology).

A Sony KDL46EX503U may be considered comparable. You decide.
Available from Comet for under £750.

I would look around and see what you can get for £800+.

Yes thats correct I paid £1020, I am going to dispute the 20% charge as that means they are only expecting the tv to last 5 years
Very.co.uk are refunding my account as I bought it on buy now pay later...so am stuck with them as I can not afford to buy a tv with cash at the moment :-(

    Hi :)

You've had use of the tv for a year, and if you'd rented one for that time you'd have been paying something in the area of £18 per week. (I googled tv rental 46 inch)

In round figures, not far off £1,000 for the year.

So the company has effectively charged you a mere £200 ;)

Looks like a good deal to me :)

The figure sounds fair enough to me considering how much similar quality TVs cost now.

Hell, you can get a Panasonic V20 42" (i know it's a bit smaller) for 899 and that's one of the best TVs on the market.

However, if you want to try and get a bit more out of them, Samsung claim the panel has a life of 100,000 hours viewing. If you don't still have the bit of sticky signage that was attached to the tv, they probably have the claim online somewhere. If you've only watched it 2000 hours, then that's 2% of the TV's life.

However, Samsung no doubt made that calculation based on perfect conditions and if something else has failed, then that won't stand.

Like I said, 800 is a pretty fair offer, but if you DO want to try squeeze more out of them, might as well give it a shot.

well, have just checked my account and very refunded the said amount, however they also refunded my engineers report to my account.

The only problem is that they said they are sending me a cheque for 860 so im a lil confused to say the least.

I called very and they said they have sent me a cheque also and will readjust my account by the next statement??

im lost has to be said lol - seems a very complicated way to refund me
