Whats the deal on consumer recovery specialists?

Filipe. I'm sorry Im going to close this one now. I feel the words of the email were good - and it struck the right tone - I have absolutely no thought about changing the wording.
To be honest if I ever send out another email of that type (its the first one sicne the barclaycard 0% deal over 2 years ago - i dont do it often); it certainly wouldn't be to back down - more the opposite.
This is a Consumer webstie, it isn't here to pander to the wishes of claims handling companies whether good or bad. I appreciate the polite way you've requested and I thank you for doing so, but I don't agree with your stance at all. And so I'm going to end my correspondence on it here
Kind regards

MSE_Martin wrote:On a seperate note. May I also point out that the large number of newbies coming in on this thread asking for a 'specialist because i can't face it myself' is very suspicious - for it to suddenly appear. If I find any claims handling companies are trying to spam and sway the boards, or persuading friends to sign up for false plufs - i will both pull the plug and seek to very publically out any of them.
Dear Martin
I know of no such acts. Although that is possible, I can certainly at least say that I have not done or persuaded anyone to do anything like that.
Why, instead of apologising for and retracting your insulting remark are you adding salt to the wound by suggesting such underhand methods?
I don't think you realise what a massive influence you have on the public. You are using it to damage the reputation of companies like mine without any knowledge of what each of us do whatsoever.
Please retract the "vultures" remark. I work extremely hard for my customers. I am not a vulture!
Kind regards

Filipe - the comment about spamming boards wasn't aimed at you - that's why I deliberately did it in a seperate post from the other comment. I have noticed this trends since the discussion started (you're not the only claims handler on here!)
As for the vultures comment, I've responded above, it isn't personal. If you feel uncomfortable with it - then I suggest that perhaps this site isn't for you - perhaps you should try elsewhere.

...Yet every leaftlet and advert and email I've seen on this subject has been from vultures trying to suck money and profit from a consumer campaign...
How do you know these adverts and emails are from vultures? The whole reason for my posting on this website is due to this outrageous comment.
I would like to open the opportunity for you to invite me to discuss this with you on your Radio 2 slot. You clearly feel very strongly about this. I get the impression that your strong opinion is based on flimsy, if any, evidence. Mainly, I feel, it is based on assumption.
Discuss this directly with me on your Radio 2 slot. If you really beleive what you are saying then this is a chance to give your argument some backing. If you do not wish to face me on a level playing field then I must insist that you simply leave companies like mine well alone.
I should add that just like in these posts, I am happy not to mention which company I own.
Kind regards

Your arrogance is incredible, that Martin would spend precious media time discussing and advertising your company and others like it instead of helping consumers.
Daily, across all the boards, there are people who persist in attempting to place their products/services on MSE in exactly the sneaky way you are doing at the moment.

Having been a long time visitor here and with my partner currently going through the process of reclaiming bank charges I thought I'd post about this. Went downstairs today and lying on my doormat was a flyer from a local company Morton Lloyd & Co Ltd, advertising to claim unfair bank charges back for you. Of course on a "no win - no fee" basis, but as they are undoubtably going to be successful I'm wondering what their fee is going to be. Now this flyer has been hand delivered so pressumably they've just mail shot the whole street. I'm somewhat annoyed that they are going to be charging a fee to people not in the know about how easy it is to do this yourself.0

but then some people dont mind paying the fee ? i dont personally have a problem with a company doing this. for example, my mother would not have a clue how to go about reclaiming her bank charges (if she didnt have me interferring !! LOL) and there is a group of people out there who dont have the internet and just dont have a clue how to do these sort of things, yes its simple, if you know what you are doing, i am currently doing mine, but i wouldnt of known what to do if i hadnt joined this site.. and got the template letters, so i think as long as the fee is only about 10% well, its a good service for the people that need it.0

There are lots of companies doing this. They charge between 25% and 40% of the money they reclaim for you. They are not doing this to help you out, they are doing this to help themselves to a large chunk of your own money.
In Martins special email he sent out last week regarding bank charges, he called them vultures. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Its very unlikely that the amount any company charges will be as little as 10%, however if anyone does decide to use such a company they really need to do their research about the company.
We already have an existing thread regarding companies which is closed but I will add these posts in that thread.0
