yep im single, i pay £10 p/w for exercise and the rest on food and any treats, i walk weverywhere and have cut back on my alcohol consumption by alot! i do socialise however selectively and always make sure i eat b4 going out as its so over priced in pubs etc.

for me this year i haven't thrown money around, and its not affected my happiness.its probably increased it as i know that my happiness comes from within and not from material items
    GOAL: To save £9,500 this year. [31/01/11: £1104.37/9,500 :D - 11.6%]

Thanks for sharing! It is quite hard to keep to the budget when a glass of wine costs £4.50 where I live. I think I am going to stay in for the next few months, it won't kill me :)

I am going out tomorrow for some drinks in town, and while I am very much looking forward to it, I can't get away from the fact that there will be this pressure to drink and spend.

I am going to come home first, have some dinner and then get the train back around 7pm.

After reading this thread again I realise that I am quite lucky. Makes me feel bad.

I do wish I could earn a bit more though so I could overpay on the mortgage - scared it being at 95% LTV even though it does not make any difference unless I sell.

I set a budget, then if I save £4.50 on food then I have earnt that in wine. It means I am more determined to find the cheaper prices for food so I can have a good time when I am out.

I had hoped to start putting whatever was left over at the end of each week into our new savings account so that we wouldn't have any nasty surprises but I'm just so infuriated that these things have happened on my 1st month in our new regime! My OH has just thrown into the conversation that he needs 2 new tyres!!

I just want to stick to my budget but his stupid car keeps throwing me off balance!!! Why can't we go back to a horse and cart!!

Something that I've been doing for a while is to set up a paypal account and whenever I sell anything on ebay I leave the ££'s sitting there until I need it for either something urgent or frivolous - then transfer the money into my bank account (or buy the item online using paypal)

I ebay all sorts of stuff - some people seem to collect the oddest things!

I'm truly gald you all have the greater means, to live, and hope you all have an enjoyable weekend xx ( i'm not being sarcastic, i truly mean it ).

My budget for next week looks even bleaker than this week, coming in at £0, at the moment. You just have to learn to live with the means you have ( and everyone's is different). xx

I've started doing that! Our computer died a couple of weeks ago and I was so proud of myself when I could buy a used one (which was so much better than our old one) and pay for it with money made from selling! No more sticking it on the credit card!!! :D
