Hi all
Ani 26, hope things are OK with you and you managed to get something cheap in the supermarket. My heart goes out to you.
My budget has gone seriously wrong this week. Its a long story but on Sunday I had to buy the kids lunch while we were out and the only sandwiches available were £2.50 each. I made do with an apple and some crisps but somehow still ended up spending £11 in the shop. I have just checked and I have £2.91 in my purse. I really need to buy bread, milk and fruit to last until next week. Oh and a birthday card for my sister.
Whats really interesting is that I have a £2k overdraft and a credit card with a £12k limit but I dont feel any temptation to use either of these. I would rather eat tinned fruit and make my sister a birthday card than use credit.0 -

Or (depending on age) you could send her an e-Card (you can send ones for free, or even just make one yourself on email and send it to her). If she's the type who is keen on 'actual' cards, Card Factory do some inexpensive cards (do you also need to pay postage? if so, remember that the larger cards will cost more to post too).
Getting the kids to make a card would be lovely though - and will keep them entertained for a little while tooFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I don't know. I know my shopping bill is higher than most due to my intolerances, so I mainly live on meat, fruit and veg (gluten and lactose intolerant) and most, if not all, is made from scratch. ani, could you get some big bags of porridge or something and have that for lunches. I know raisins/sultanas/economy jam is pretty cheap, I know it doesn't sound that nice but it's variation (says the woman who'd live on sweetcorn)** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.

Seriously this isn't right.... you can't live on baked beans on toast! And how long for? How many years do you have to do this?
So so so sad
Hopefully its a temporary measure, as i've no intention of doing it for years. Maybe this month, though.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Thanks YL x
I managed to acquire £18 today, ( don't ask how ), but i felt pretty much the pits. Went to the pound shop and got a jar of 10 franfurters for £1, which took my fancy, even though thats not something i'd normally eat, and total extravagance, a very large packet of ginger nuts, which just took my fancy too. I've got some very long shifts coming up, so i've got something to look forward to on my breaks, along my with my tea, as i always take my own tea bags. Theres no money for buying things on the hoof, from expensive retail outlets. Not something i ever do, anyway. I've got some noodles in the cupboard from way back when, so the frankfurters will spice those up a bit
Also spent £1 on apples. I saw the ads last night for mr M's who were selling packets of oranges and apples for 30p, but decided the trip there was'nt cost effective, in the amount of petrol, i'd use. So tried mr S and mr A, and Mr A had my favourite apples on offer, (braeburns ), £1 a bag. Even then they had bags with 5 large apples, or bags with 7 smaller apples in, and decided to get the smaller apples, as thats an apple a day for a week. Keeps the doctor away, or so they say. Those apples i bought last week, really were carp.
So with my £3 spent, i've £15 left for petrol, but i still need some more bread for sarnies, ( and lots of them ). Always take a big butty box of sarnies on these shifts, so thats me sorted. Did you know you can buy jam sarnies now? I'm sure i saw them in A**i and mr t's . I personally think anyone who buys a jam sarnie is mad :rotfl:You can buy quite reasonable quality jam, cheaply. I should'nt have bought those ginger nuts, though. Never mind. I've got to believe some pay will hit my account in the next week..............................Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Thanks for the tip about the card. I can hand deliver it so will set the kids on making something tomorrow. We have lots of craft bits so I am sure they will come up with something unique if nothing else!
Spent £9 at the supermarket (had to use the emergency £5 that has been in my purse for ages and some change out of the car ashtray!). Bought 8 pints of milk, a big bag of apples (like ani 26 I made sure they were small apples), a pack of ham, 2 loaves of bread and 12 bread buns. That should see us through until the end of the week.
No cash left now, but shouldnt need anything else so thats OK.0 -
YL, you know what i mean about the apples then :rotfl:
Bit different to those who just grab and run
Same goes for all products, and don't forget rifling through the bread on the back of the shelf
Lucy, please don't get upset. I'm used to it, but like YL says, too, what i have, should see me through to the end of the week, now, and thats as far as i can look ahead.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?
