    How come? What went wrong?

They were late returning my results. I entered my details again and it said the receipt was already being processed and to wait.

I then got an e-mail that said they couldn't find my receipt and to try entering again. This time the details weren't recognised on the system!

I bought 2x Vanish Oxi Stain Remover 1.5kg @ £10.88 when Asda had them on offer @ £6.00. I wouldn't have bought this otherwise - they were only £3.99 at Savers!

Terms and conditions from the voucher:

Cannot be used for purchases at the kiosk, fuel, tobacco, lottery, gift-cards or mobile phone top-up cards, optical, pharmacy or papershop.

Can't remember where I saw it but somewhere on the T&Cs it says you CAN spend the voucher in petrol stations but not of fuel, just the other stuff in the shop. I may be have a senior moment though!

  • i went yesterday and bought stuff which I needed and which I had checked on the pricechecker before I set off, so I knew which items to buy. My bill was £83.10 and by my reckoning, using the tesco online product checker it would have been £20.24 cheaper in Asda. I sent off my details as instructed and got my results through just now and it said that my shopping would only have been £2.20 cheaper at Asda.

When I looked at the bill they had only compared £25 worth of shopping. I had bought loads of Always products as they were £1.99 in Tesco and £1.00 in Asda (I checked on the pricechecker and on Asda. com) but they had not been compared. I just rang customer services and spoke to a very rude man who said that they only compare 25% of your shopping approximately, and that Always weren't included. I asked why they were included in the list on the websites pricechecker and he said he didn't know. I asked who did and he said he didn't know. I asked to speak to someone else and he said that they wouldn't be able to tell me any more.

My opinion is that this is just more sharp practice from Tesco and I won't EVER be going there again. I now have to take all the stuff back that I got yesterday and they had better refund me!

  • Apologies if this has already been covered in this thread or somewhere else and I have missed it, but can anyone clarify this this Price checker thing, please.

I understand that it is based on the price difference between comparable items of Tesco and Asda, but for the purposes of issuing vouchers, do Tesco then base this on the total of the comparable items in the Tesco basket and the hypothetical ASDA basket?

I ask because I emailed my receipt to Tesco to check. There are 3 comparable items on there that were cheaper in Asda, but Tesco replied saying that my shopping was £3.38 cheaper at Tesco than at Asda, no mention of any vouchers!

If it is based on the total basket, people need to be very careful how they shop, because if they are looking to gain on DTD on certain items, they could end spending more, couldn't they ? Perhaps it would be better to put DTD items on a separate bill? Now scratching my head and getting very confused - someone please help !!!!!!

It seems to be the total of the shopping, based upon my experience. My post above tells of my experience but according to customer services they only check 25% of each bill, so that seems to be false advertising to me!

    HI
I did a shop at Tesco yesterday after reading this thread so I noted some of the things that had large differences pepsi, dairylea cheese and the like any how spent £39 but had bread milk and some other bits I needed which cost £14 so the extra stuff was £25 but today just received a dtd voucher for £24.4 so it was really good. I have been down and spent my voucher on stuff which is cheaper in Asda so fingers crossed Ill get another ILL roll it on till I reach the £100 limit.
If Tesco wanna give me stuff then Im gunna take it:D
