anyone know if you can return grocery items such as wine? Never done it before so not sure on the rules... just in case
Would rather know in advance of a purchase than be disappointed afterwards0 -

It will be compared from the date on your reciept hth.0 -
BUT so long as they tell us all the "rules" in advance (which they have done), and so long as they play the game to the same rules that they tell us (and so far i think they've done that) and so long as the give us a way to know if we've "won or lost" before parting with any cash (which they have done), then I know the risks and i know the rewards... and i choose to play :-)
I agree with you - but only up to a point! I don't think Tesco are sticking to their own rules as their rules clearly state that prices are matched DAILY to prices on ASDA.COM and their own pricechecker is updated accordingly.
I just do not believe that Asda don't have lemons, Lenor, crunchy nut cornflakes, carrots, Airwick candles - and a host of other 'everyday items' !!! If Asda have stopped selling all the items that Tesco say they cna't find then they would be laying off their staff! Tesco are being VERY selective over what they choose to put on their price checker - I agree that they can impose their own rules but they CANNOT falsely advertise something that is basically a lie!ELITE 5:2

I noticed the Pricechecker today says prices compared on 4/3/2011 (Friday) so they could quite easily make out the prices on items bought today were comparable.
Did however get a cheaper shop but only on a "careful shop".
If you're targetted certain items might be worth splitting your shopso you don't lose out

what happens if i buy something thats reduced? that will obvoiusly make my shop cheaper but does it include it?DEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
One group of people who you can pretty much guarantee will be keeping an eye on Tesco's claims are Asda and their lawyers.
Tesco say this is a limited offer. I'm guessing that means limited until they get pulled up by the A.S.A. for false/misleading advertising.0 -
Put my first receipt in on Thursday, just a normal weekly shop without trying to manipulate it in my favour, and got a voucher for £1.62 from Mr T! Better in my pocket so quite happy.0

I have done a 'selective' shop today and submitted my claim. Just to be on the safe side, I have also saved screenshots of the tesco price comparison pages showing todays date and the specific items that I bought.
I think the best way to work this system is to buy just 'selected' items in a separate transaction from any other shopping.0 -

I agree - this is the only way to be sure of a bargain shop.ELITE 5:2

For fairness I should state that I am not a neutral party.
I thought I’d look into some of the products missing from Tesco Price Check that have been mentioned to see what the reasons might be. The main reasons for products not being listed are:
· Tesco has a larger range than Asda, so it’s not possible to match everything
· Tesco and Asda may stock the same product but in different sizes, which are not matched
· Asda stores may stock a product, but it is not listed on the Asda website
Products mentioned where there appears to be a reason for not matching
· Cream crackers. Tesco sell 200g @ £0.25, Asda sell 300g @ £0.45. As the difference in pack size is more than 10% these are not classed as comparable.
· Napolina olive oil. I’m not sure what size is being referred to here. Tesco sell 250ml, 500ml, 1L and 1.5L Asda sell 250ml and 1L only. Therefore if the purchase was of 500ml or 1.5L it would not have been comparable
· McCain Homefries. I’m going to assume this is the straight cut version. Tesco sell 1kg, 1.5kg and 2.25kg. Asda only sell 1.5kg, so other sizes would not be comparable
· Kelloggs Crunchy Nut Cornflakes. Tesco range 500g, 750g and 1kg. Asda only have 500g and 750g. If the 1kg product was bought, this would not have been comparable (the others should have been)
· Grapes – not sure on this one as it would depend on if they were Red or Green, loose or packed on the pack size. Assuming Green seedless grapes pack Tesco range a 750g pack, Asda range a 500g pack (both are £2.47)
· Aquafresh toothpaste. Again will depend on the variant chosen but Tesco range 50ml (@£0.92) and 100ml (@£1.00) versions of Aquafresh minty, whereas Asda only range 75ml (@£0.98) so there would be no comparability here.
· 800g lamb chops – I’m going to assume Market Value 800g lamb chops from Tesco. Asda only have 400g Lamb chops in their Smart Price range, which would explain why this is not classed as comparable.
· Dove body lotion – Taking Tesco’s Dove Nourishing Body lotion 400ml as an example I could only find the 250ml variant on the Asda website.
· Fosters. Tesco sell 4 types of Fosters
o 10x440ml cans – Asda range 12x440ml cans, which is more than 10% bigger so non-comparable
o 4x568ml cans – Asda do not range an equivalent
o 4x440ml cans – also ranged by Asda so should be comparable
o 15x440ml cans – Asda range 20x440ml cans, which is more than 10% bigger so non-comparable
· Carrots – as with the grapes it’s difficult to be sure without knowing the details. Tesco range a 500g and 1kg bag of class 1 carrots – Asda only range a 1kg bag, so the 500g would not be comparable
· Lenor – As with Kingsmill this should be easy to match but without knowing the details it’s difficult to tell. As an example Tesco sell a 750ml and a 1.5l bottle of Spring Awakening, Asda range a 750ml and a 2L bottle, so the 2L bottle would be non-comparable.
· Baby Plum Tomatoes. Tesco baby plum tomatoes are 325g (@£1.30). Asda are 250g (@£1.17)
· Pizzas – Difficult to be sure without knowing the details but as an example Tesco range a 150g Value Pizza. The smallest Asda Smart Price is 268g, which would not be comparable.
Products not matched where there does not appear to be a reason for not matching
· Single lemon – not sure why this was showing as unmatched. Looks like it should have been
· Kingsmill bread – this should be easy to match and without knowing which of the c. 20 variants it’s difficult to know why this isn’t matched. One thing I did notice is that Asda don’t range the “lightly seeded” Kingsmill, which is a possible (though admittedly unlikely) reason.
· 1.5kg value bananas – looks like these should have been matched. Today Asda Smart Price and Tesco Market Value bananas 1.5kg are both £1.15 so it wouldn’t have changed the result.
· Lurpak butter slightly salted 500g – I’m assuming this refers to the spreadable as it’s 500g, rather than a 250g block. This looks like it should be matched0
