10 difrent transactions over 2 days, the bank never called me to see if it was me. i contacted abbey fraud team and was told (in not so many words to go **** myself) and told me to investigate it myself. AINT THAT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.0 -
Surely you could have complained to the FSA? They normally would use an algorithm to detect how you spend your money and where ie: if your a big spender, a low spender, a frequent spender, someone who spends often, someone who purchases groceries only, or someone who buys lots of techie things, whether you spend mainly in the UK, US etc... and they should have notified you that they detected an irregular buying pattern, and to confirm if it was you who took £4200 out. Though if you were frequently shifting money in the thousands, then they would have rightly not contacted you.0

On checking my coop on line statement i noticed a transaction for tesco mobile top up for £10 as i dont have a tesco mobile phone i phoned coop banking and told them. they asked if anyone had access to my card i said no,they asked if i got cash back from machine and pressed mobile top up by mistake i said no they then gave me a phone number to phone that connencted with £10 top up, i did and it was for tesco mobile top up they said they would get the fraud department to call me back. on the day it happened the only time i used my debit card was to get gas put on my meter card for £10 and i have the gas receipt receipt and yhe till receipt for that, the girl on the phone said she suspects the person who served me had topped up his phone at the same time as my gas and used my details to pay for it. its not a lot of money but the coop said they will have to block my card and the inconvenience at this time of year is really annoying plus being an OAP i cant really afford it. anyone had this happen to them or is it a one off?0

It should be a one off, though you should pursue it, and get your £10 back. The supermarket should hopefully investigate this fraud, along with your card company0

I have been with Lloyds for years, and had my card cloned twice, the first time it happened, I was in Wales using my card, whilst the card was being used in London, they refunded everything without any dispute.
The second time it was cloned, I was using my card in Wales and it was also being used in Canada, gord!!!! the hoops I had to go through to prove to them that I hadn't used it in Canada, how could I be in Canada and Wales at the same time. The did refund after a couple of weeks.0 -
I think in terms of security, Barclays comes up top, followed by Lloyds. The reason why Lloyds doesn't make it at the top is because they don't have a PinSentry style thing to log on, and all you need to log on is your password, and a memorable word. The password can be picked up by keyloggers and the memorable word can also, after a while ie: say your memorable word is windowslive, and each time Lloyds asks for your fourth, fifth and seventh number(alternating the numbers each time). It is easily possible for a keylogger to simply wait, and they can now clean out your bank account.
Saying this, Lloyds are on top with bank transfers. Whilst they don't use a constant changing 8 bit encryption, they do make you confirm any bank transfers to a new person. This would be done only by calling home, or your mobile. If Lloyds adopted a PINSentry type device, I'd be really happy. In fact, I've recommended this to them!0 -
further to my earlier post in this thread, had no probs since in fact I had a significant sum of money transfered into my account and back out again (all by myself) and on both occasions LLoyds rang to enquire that is was known to me. well done LLoyds!!!0

I am sorry this happened to you jonathan (and others) , it's just happened to me too, also with a Lloyds debit card. When I checked my online statement on Tuesday morning, £550 had been paid to Comet, nothing to do with me or other half. I phoned the bank straight away to stop the card. Comet were not very helpful, they were able to get details of the transaction from my address and said it was a phone order on Sunday, which was due for delivery that same day - but they could not stop it. They refused to give me any further details due to data protection ( ! ) and said an invoice "might" arrive at my house with details. They would not even tell me WHAT had been bought and where it had been delivered. I have never bought anything from Comet so they don't have my details other than for this fraudulent transaction.
Lloyds have said I should get the money back within 5 days, I'm hoping I will not also have to fight to get back charges for going over my overdraft limit.
Hmm, Comet should have taken you seriously because it is very likely that Lloyds will take the payment from them as it is their responsibility to check delivery addresses match the card holder's address etc.0 -
The banks are supposed to send the cards and pins out with over a week apart but someone i know in a london sorting centre says he has seen lots sent out together.0

1/ Pay for fuel with a debit card and the assistant drops the card behind the counter then swipes it when he/she gets up.
2/Gambling/!!!!!! site links with viruses which ask people to pay by debit or credit card.
3/False fronts on ATM machines (mainly supermarkets as known to get over 100 numbers an hour) from past cases.
4/Certain famous fast food outlets with low paid staff where people pay by debit/credit card using same tactics as No1.0
