Today I went to the farm shop to buy veg instead of the supermarket, parked and walked to the park saving £1 parking fee, didn't put the heating on and put all washing on airers instead of the dryer.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

great OP mw :j
Today I've:
* cycled approx 7 miles with panniers of shopping rather than driven, saving petrol, wear and tear on the car and increasing my fitness
* been to waitrose and (other than a danish that fell into my mouth) got only the 3 things I went there for
* bought end of day reduced fruit at market, washed it, thrown away unuseable bits and stored the rest for lunches etc
* banked some more cravendale codes
* done some co-op comps
* made a spreadsheet to help me track grocery spendsDebt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -

After doing all the gardening and cleaning earlier, i made up an approved food order satay kit - pork satay sticks for our dinner served with approved food noodles. Yum.
Then this evening i have managed to qualify for quite a few surveys from survey network (thank goodness as i have been stuck at £4 for ages and had lost motivation there) and also written a DY review and been doing some rating. Now at £32.55 there, and got 12 days to get to £50 if i want to meet my target. I am behind because their site was down last weekend. (Not bad earnings from 29/01, and have written 54 reviews so far this year.)
DH has gone for a shower and to bed as he is worn out. I am going to head that way soon so we have the energy for being productive tomorrow.
Iris - thanks for mentioning Mr T DTD. I have just entered some receipts in. Not sure i will get anything, but might as well enter them at least, and i will consult the thread before any other shopping sessions. I fancy a bit of money for not a lot of effort. I spend enough of my energy doing surveys etc for not a lot of reward, so it would be good to get anything easier. I really do need to explore these boards a bit more.0 -
Mr T DTD only seems worthwhile if you would use the things tho? Otherwise what would you do with them? They seem to be offers on shampoo etc, when I am brand loyal so can't see what I would do with "free" pantene for example.
Am I missing something?Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
I dunno Katsu. I thought it wouldn't hurt to enter in my receipt details and see if i got something back, and it also wouldn't hurt to see if there was anything more premium that i fancied as a treat. Not going to be going mad and buying something i don't want though. I always use the same shampoo too, bit less loyal over body washes and that sort of thing.
Just look on it as worth keeping an eye on perhaps?0 -
I entered a old receipt ( nearly 28 days ) and was told that Mr T's was cheaper by £11..yeah right! Worth a try though.
Katsu I'm brand loyal too to some extent , I won't "buy" cat food, baileys or the like just because its free because that's IMO taking the mick. But I'm willing to swop my washing powder brand in order to get one for say 30p. You really should try it..I'm sure some of your regular brands are in the deal too if you check. It changes daily though so read the thread first.:)
Some people have bought wine and been paid to take it away!
I'm using the voucher I got next week and putting the cost of the voucher to my savings/mortgage..every little helps!I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Hope I can join in even though I don't have my own proper MFW thread. We do try to overpay the mg, but it's more on an adhoc basis, saving up as much as we can each month in ISAs and then paying a big lump sum every 2 or 3 years when we remortgage. So the MFW spirit is there, at least.
Your posts on this thread have really inspired me and given me lots of ideas on small ways to save and help op that really can add up. So here are my savings this weekend so far:
-Listed a handbag on Ebay with free listing
- Went out for a meal with in laws last night, MIL had brought a 2-4-1 voucher for main meals to cover the whole party but forgot to hand it in until the waiter was processing our bill so it fell down to me to approach the waiter and charm him into letting us use it- fortunately my eyelash batting worked and we saved £26!
-Tutored a new child and earned £12.50- parent sat in and was very happy with it and has asked continue each week for a whole hour (If Earthgirl is reading this many thanks to you for your suggestions on my website as this was the first client who found me through my website!)
-Spend ages cleaning out a seed feeder for the birds which had got really grotty and mouldy over the winter, as I was determined not to bin it and pay £13 for a new one that I'd seen. The cleaned-up one looks as good as new and the birds clearly like it as they are flocking to it as I type.
-Had a major declutter and re-organisation of my wardrobe. Put loads of old clothes into charity bags, brought home some small storage baskets I don't need at work (that I paid for myself 2 years ago and never used, honestly not pilfering!) to put belts, scarves etc into and have reused plastic punnets and boxes that food came in to sort out my different types of makeup, my wardrobe looks amazing now if I do say so myself and it's going to be so much easier to put outfits together now I can see all that i actually own. It was a real mess before though I must admit! Just realised that this isn't actually money saving but it may stop me buying more clothes and accessories as I can now see all that I have already so perhaps it will save in the long run
-Just wrapped up 2 gifts for family members that we will see later today: got a T-shirt for one of them when the 40% off Bench sale was on in early December, and a lovely necklace we got half price for the other, all beautifully wrapped up in Paperchase giftwrap bought 5 sheets for £1 in the New Year sale. I keep a spreadsheet (geek alert, I know!) of all friends and family members birthdays as well as Xmas and look out for suitable, preferably discounted, gifts throughout the year then record them on spreadsheet so I can see what still needs buying and the savings I've recorded make me feel pleased, too.
-To Mirry and Ihatedida -give it a go making your own canvases! I did this myself when I saw lovely canvas pics in a hotel and kept asking the staff who the artist was so that I could buy some myself but they never got back to me. Luckily OH took photos of them on his mobile so I had a go at creating similar designs at home on cheap canvases, using plaster of paris and paint. My ones are nowwnere as good as the original artist's of course (I was too rubbish at art to even take it for GCSE!) but amazingly several visitors to our house have raved about them and asked where I bought them from lol! I can try to send a pic by pm if anyone's interested, they are just simple flowers with stem and petals cut out from plaster.
Have a good Sunday everyone, look forward to seeing some Sunday savings on this thread later!Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -

Hi Summerday! I haven't got a thread either but love this one - you get so many ideas/motivation from this - I'm hooked! I'm going to try this Tesco receipt difference thing when I have time to get my head around it as it sounds fab (but a little complicated!).
Would love to see your pic - I failed my GCSE Art :rotfl:so any inspiration would be good! Maybe its a moneymaking idea for you if people are asking about where you got it from???? :T0 -
*Walked to Mr M’s for bread & milk – checked out offers first online
*Watched a sky £3.99 movie last night (Saw ) which we was going to purchase for £14.99 to add to my boxset (Don’t bother its daft) - saved £10.84
*Made HM apple crumble to use up the bramleys I had left over
*Went through finances again..it hadn’t changed!I can't be bothered updating this anymore0
