I already want to undo my skirt and I'm sick of smiling as I bite the inside of my cheek as my mother introduces me as 'the one who failed to produce' and watching the dishy guy from the band hit on my younger cousin and then I get slobbered all over by some 103 year old Irish rellie-twice-removed, smelling of pipe and whisky who thinks I can't feel his hand on my @rse as he tells me what a 'Fine young girleen' I am.
Then there are all the relatives who insist on having the same conversation with me at every family occasion - Why aren't you married, Don't you like children, What's your sh1te job again?, What did you do wrong to loose that wonderful man you were going out with? They're either talking about:-
a) the toss-pot that told my family we were engaged and moving to Thailand - all news to me! - whilst he was telling about 100 of our acquaintances that I repulsed him in bed or
b) the one that tried to smoother me whilst he was off his face.
Then there's always the Aunty who likes to look me up and down and with a smirk tell me 'That style of Dress/Skirt/Top/Whatever has never done anything for your figure/complexion'.
To top it all off I don't like champagne and on account of my curlyness I can't wear hats.
It's also a bit humilitating to be sat on the Kiddies table when you're 40 :rotfl:
....Only joking (and for the record - I have a lovely BF nowalthough he does get fed up of me asking 'Are you repulsed at the moment?')
I nearly spat my tea across my desk when I was cheekily reading this at work this afternoon - couldn't hang around to post but it did make me laugh. I had a perfect picture of family weddings in my head.

I have been very slack about posting on here and know it really helps me keep looking at ways to save so here goes for this month...
Sold an old gold necklace for scrap value $17
Going to the supermarket on the way to pick DD up from scouts to get mark-downs and conserve fuel as its on the way - got a piece of beef reduced from $40 to $20 and we then cut it into three and put it in the freezer.
Reduced DD on elec by $10 a month.
claimed $50 giftcard from CC points - will put it towards foodshop
Two books sold on ebay - $12
got the slow cooker out last night so tea was ready when we walked in the door.
my best one for the month is jumping in bed when the kids have gone to bed, saving on elec and heating (its chilly here in the evenings now) plus i'm getting lots of sleep! very MSE lol

Newgirly has kindly posted a recipe for laundry detergent on her diary if anyone is interested - 'unfortunately' I've just stocked up on some that was on offer in Sainsburys tonight but am going to save the bottle and maybe try the homemade stuff
*32p Exercise reward tonight
*Tried for a Nectar Canvass survey but got knocked out
*Anyone got a letter from the Halifax telling them their ISA rate is expiring on 15/5? Then check out Kazza242's thread - he does all the dirty work of rooting around for best rates for us (all listed in post 1)
*went through freezer tonight and had a good tidy - made a list of everything I've got. 1 year old whoopsie Venison Burger top of the list
*after checking local prices online I filled my car up at Sainsburys 137.9 plus Nectar points was the best local price for me
*took a top back that I'd picked up last week in the sale - I looked stupid0 -

Dont worry about me, i can cope with most things ladies can throw at me in the filthy language department. My girlfriend is Irish!Hi ammonite and James welcome
Thankyou very much!
I have just read through page 90 to 99 of this thread. Some fascinating stuff you all do to save a few quid here and there, i cant wait to join in. I think i might have to start bulk cooking a few things when the OH goes away on her business trips. When im on my own for a few weeks, i always end up giving in and visiting the takeaway once or twice a week because i am too lazy to cook. That im sure is shameful behavior on here!Mortgage Free 22/03/17

Morning all
Quite proud of myself this morning - I went to the supermarket on the way to work and didn't buy anything that wasn't on my list - that's quite an achievement for me!
I have made my lunch for work every day this week, so no additional spending there, and I've stuck to my meal planner. I've got the week off next week so plan to do some batch cooking and fill up the freezer to help with future weeks. I find having the plan on my calendar really useful as it means I can easily move things around if something changes and I make a note if it's in the freezer already or if I need to buy anything. Sounds simple but it took reading about how other people do it to make me realise how lackadaisical I have been in the past and pull my finger out to do something about it. Parents are coming for dinner on Sunday and I've got so many plans for the chicken that is left over - just as well I got the biggest one I could find in the shop this morning!
Roll on 4 pm (POETS day today!). :j4 February 2014 - Mortgage Free

Thanks for the link about charging a mobile. I always charge mine off the computer when possible - not sure if that is better or worse, and generally charge it either at work or with my car charger (assume it doesn't use more fuel?!)
Thanks for the welcome Shala Moo!
Don't know if anyone has seen that Amazon has a grocery section? Don't know if this is new or not but it is new for meAnyway, I found my washing powder on there quite cheap...and I can use vouchers to buy it with (make vouchers through DooU etc.) which really means free washing powder now
Also they have "Subscribe & Save" which knocks a further 10% off if you order it on a regular basis (least frequent you can opt for is 6 months) but you can cancel at any time. Downside to this is you can't use the vouchers. So for me its worth paying 60p more per bottle and using the vouchers.
Lots of items in bulk on there too in case people don't have access to a Costco or similar.0 -
Over the last few days I have:
Been making loads of slow cooker dishes and portioning/freezing
Got the £5 off a £35 spend at Aldi voucher from yesterdays Mirror so will be going to stock up today or tomorrow.
Unsure whether to get the one in today's Daily Mail too, as that means buying that toilet paper newspaper which sickens me but I could always use it to stock up on Aldi wine.
Filled the car at Sainsburys and used Nectar card as well as paying on Nectar credit card for double points (gets paid in full each month) Whilst there I put air into my tyres too.
FINALLY reached £40 on Onepoll so cashed out. Also waiting for £10odd from Quanti from daily clicks.
Swagbucks/Superpoints
Nearly at £10 again on Valued Opinions. I like this survey site; although I get screened out a lot there are surveys almost daily. Will use this to get another £10 Amazon voucher.
Converted Old Halifax ISA to newer one with better interest rate of 3%.

Don't know what I've done today, apart from using my hm laundry gloop for the washing and drinking a cup of tea earlier because I want some cupboard space back and it IS cheaper than coffee
Will be going to the butcher later for BBQ meat as it's my birthday so we're having a BBQ (probably indoor) tomorrow. Cheap than a meal out, even if we feed 20 people.
