It's a good job you added the last bit, Curlygirl, or I'd have been thinking you meant can you come and go...around meal time...:rotfl:

Almost what I meant, but not quite, obviously I'd stick around for a bit of polite small talk ;)....but you get to a point after several hours of being on your best behaviour, being nice to people etc, and too much eating where you are dying for comfy pants and your own sofa.

I've been to Weddings myself where you have to be ready for the Ceremony starting at 11am and by 5pm my feet are barking but you know you have to last until at least 1am. I already want to undo my skirt and I'm sick of smiling as I bite the inside of my cheek as my mother introduces me as 'the one who failed to produce' and watching the dishy guy from the band hit on my younger cousin and then I get slobbered all over by some 103 year old Irish rellie-twice-removed, smelling of pipe and whisky who thinks I can't feel his hand on my @rse as he tells me what a 'Fine young girleen' I am.

Then there are all the relatives who insist on having the same conversation with me at every family occasion - Why aren't you married, Don't you like children, What's your sh1te job again?, What did you do wrong to loose that wonderful man you were going out with? They're either talking about:-
    a) the toss-pot that told my family we were engaged and moving to Thailand - all news to me! - whilst he was telling about 100 of our acquaintances that I repulsed him in bed or
    b) the one that tried to smoother me whilst he was off his face.
Then there's always the Aunty who likes to look me up and down and with a smirk tell me 'That style of Dress/Skirt/Top/Whatever has never done anything for your figure/complexion'.

To top it all off I don't like champagne and on account of my curlyness I can't wear hats.
It's also a bit humilitating to be sat on the Kiddies table when you're 40 :rotfl:

....Only joking (and for the record - I have a lovely BF now :D although he does get fed up of me asking 'Are you repulsed at the moment?')

I guess I should put that saving into a separate pot as I would have spent £50 if I went to the shops...do you guys do that?

I think I'm going to set up a little savings pot for all of these things, not for when I buy bargains, only when I make a saving on something I would have paid full price for. Ooh I'm feeling addicted!

How much do you think you save by charging phone/iPad/laptop at work?

I think we all have our own little ways of saving the bits we've saved/made. A lot of mine isn't actual cash in my hand but I do note it all down on a Spreadsheet and make sure it get's totted up and included in a Payment to the mortgage

Charging phone - probably less than a penny a day - but hey it feels good :D (When I've had a look for info on this I can find a lot of answers from the US - so not very meaningful for us here)

I think I'm going to do that.Anything I would have paid full price for but found it cheaper or used a voucher, I'm putting in a separate account. If I only bought it because it was on offer, that won't count.

Also going to cancel the milkman and work out the saving on that. Work isn't as hectic as it used to be so I can actually get to a shop now and again!

On a day-to-day basis, not very much, I guess. But extrapolate it to annual cost, I am sure it will run to a few quids. Every little helps (I am not advertising for MrT here). We always believe whatever figures the energy suppliers/appliance manufacturers dish out when they say 'save £xx when you use our energy-efficient appliances'. So, I am sure, us not connecting our laptops/phones/ipads to the energy outlet for a few hours a day is definitely :money: worthwhile.

*Did a £2 VO survey - haven't had any surveys from them for quite sometime now and was surprised to get a £2 one - very near the redemption threshold too.

Hello everyone! Im new to the MFW forum and have started a diary so i thought i would also join in here!

Here is what i have done today:

    - 84p earned from google adsense on my youtube videos yesterday. Im averaging about 50p a day now. Dont get a payout until it gets to £60 though :(

    - For lunch i had the free sandwich that the OH didnt want on our flight home yesterday. Lets call that 50p

    - I got a lift to work from my colleague who lives down the road from me and has a company car. Its not everyday as he has offsite meetings sometimes, but i can get a lift to and from work 3 days or so a week :) Thats about £4 worth of fuel saved

I hope everyone has had a good day! Im looking forward to keeping up with the little things everyone does. I have saved this thread in my favs!

Just in case anyone has missed it, the Daily Mirror are doing a £5 off a £35 shop at Aldi again today (45p for the paper), plus there's 30% vouchers for a few items.

    Thanks for that Pink poppy.

I reckon Im saving around £20 a week since I switched from Mr T to Aldi - and buy much more fruit & veg than I used to.
Come to think of it, i should have bought 2 papers as i normally spend around £70 each week.

Will I look silly going back to the corner shop - its a small village you know - word might get round that I actually read the mirror !
And, will I look silly at the checkout with a "next customer" sign half way along the conveyer belt !

Oh dear, the things we do for a few extra pounds off the mortgage !

I've been reading your diary ColdCazzie - you are a bit of a food fiend! I do do some batch cooking but not a great deal - perhaps once a month I do a huge curry and bolgnese-thingy and freeze portions. But am only cooking for one most of the time so there's no huge requirement for a freezer full of food (although I have........which reminds me on my to-do list is a stock-take of my freezer)
Ahahahahahaha, you have no idea! :rotfl::rotfl: I mod on another forum and I swear all we talk about in the mod section is food! :D I can't help it... I love food, but can only afford to eat out about once every 6 months so I have to make do with talking about the food I make at home all the time lol.

    Wow! Thanks for that

I also read somewhere (but can't find it now) that having the charger plugged into the wall and the socket switched on also uses some electricity

    Welcome James!
