    Morning all

Quite proud of myself this morning - I went to the supermarket on the way to work and didn't buy anything that wasn't on my list - that's quite an achievement for me!

I have made my lunch for work every day this week, so no additional spending there, and I've stuck to my meal planner. I've got the week off next week so plan to do some batch cooking and fill up the freezer to help with future weeks. I find having the plan on my calendar really useful as it means I can easily move things around if something changes and I make a note if it's in the freezer already or if I need to buy anything. Sounds simple but it took reading about how other people do it to make me realise how lackadaisical I have been in the past and pull my finger out to do something about it. Parents are coming for dinner on Sunday and I've got so many plans for the chicken that is left over - just as well I got the biggest one I could find in the shop this morning!

Roll on 4 pm (POETS day today!). :j
Just have an image of you watching how much chicken everyone has so that you make sure you have enough left... :rotfl:

A well aimed fork will do the trick if too much is disappearing - or I could be really mean and remind my Mum she's on a diet :p

Or do what my MIL did some years ago when they had an extra person turn up for dinner and they were a pork chop short - she cut a piece of chop shaped bread and covered it in gravy:(

    A true moneysaver :money:

I haven't done anything that could be construed as moneysaving today, I haven't spent any money either which is a good thing. Oh another £4.70 saved by working at home I suppose. All helps.

£68.74 saved this week with vouchers etc. I've been squirreling it away in an empty savings account. That will go towards overpaying rather than saving up for the future mortgage payments!

Just worked out that if I can overpay by just £200 a month I could pay off the mortgage by the time I'm 40. Not quite MFW by 30 as I had envisaged when I was 18, but 40 aint bad either!

Its really amazing how overpayments add up! Being MF by 40 is an amazing acheivement. Most people would dream of it!

I hope you weren't the recipient of the bread chop Curlygirl...

Ammonite being MF by 40 would be a fantastic achievement :T It may have took longer than you thought, but its still a darn site quicker than most..

    Not very MSE today
    - OH got new (to us) car
    - using tumble dryer as it's peeing it down and our washing line has snapped anyway!
    - had to get a prescription £7.65

I've been messing with my mortgage spreadsheet this afternoon, you've all inspired me to see what i can knock off the term etc..

I pay £877 at the moment, if i up that to £1000 a month then it knocks 3 yrs and 8 months off, saving just under £20k in interest and I would be 56. So once the credit card is paid off I shall be ringing and upping my mortgage payments for the month, if allowable.

Thanks Shala ! I can't wait to change our mortgage deal, we got a 5 year fix which is fine 'cos we can afford it, but fixed before the rates dropped significantly so pay quite a high rate. Still got almost 2 years left on the fix :(

The mortgage overpay calculator is addictive. I've also just downloaded a spreadsheet! I'm completely addicted! Always loved moneysaving :D
