LavenderBee - know you are focussing on spending as little as poss - but do remember to have a good time whilst you are off work - you are allowed to treat yourself now and again
Also - was just looking on nectar.com and can see that there is a 250 bonus points offer for Homebase on their at the mo.[/QUOTE]
Yes, you're right, but the weather yesterday was truly grot (horizontal snow and rain ), and no way was I heading out in it to "enjoy" myself. So glad to wake up to blue skies and sunshine this morning, though is freezing cold.
I have treated myself a wee bit today -
Sales at L4ura 4shley & Wh1te st8ff, so bought some much needed socks half price and a pretty food cover (was expecting 30% off but went through the till at 37% off! :T)
Bought book of 12 2nd class stamps before the price rise - will keep me going for a couple of years!
Had a hot chocolate with friend (instead of lunch, came home for a late lunch). Just as enjoyable but cheaper
Went to classical concert in church - tenor soloist, cellist and harmony singers - bargain £3
Used my car to get to market town near us (friend has just lost 2nd job in 2 months!, so not MSE for me, but is for her)
Tried to do 3 My Survey surveys - got bombed out of all of them
Think that's it for today. Not bad and very enjoyable.
LB xx
P.S. I don't have a nectar card - off to investigate ...0 -
*YouGov survey
*Was out at a friends last night - so no leccy used by me(we'll just gloss over the fact I bought a take-away)
*Got home for 10.30 and was FREEZING. I refused to put heating on so did some hula hooping (I kid you not) and then went to bed with that many layers on I thought I was going to be squashed to death.
*Charging phone at work
*Driving to BF's which is 80 miles away after work - am going to be really really good and watch my MPG
*Told BF that we are NOT going out tonight although that was more to keep kcal down rather than spending
It's probably going to be a ££ weekend as we are meeting friends tomorrow for lunch and then on Sunday we are providing one of the courses (don't know which one yet) for big family lunch. I haven't got my nieces easter eggs - mainly because they get so many from everyone else - but am now wracked with guilt and considering giving them a little money for their holiday spends.
We will probably go out for half day using our nearly expired Nat Trust membership - must make a concerted effort to find something to make a packed lunch with
What's everyone else planning?0 -
Nothing exciting, but the weather has changed again (now warmish & sunny), and I actually have a burnt nose from eating lunch outside today :T
Not much on the MSE front to report -
My Survey - managed to do one, but got bombed out of another two...still, not too far off another £10 voucher
My new pusscat is a bit agressive towards my incumbent pusses, so, after researching on't internet, have ordered a 2nd hand book for some tips at 1p (+pp), and used existing voucher to pay for it - so effectively a freebie.
Still no heating on, though it's pretty cold again this evening. I have 4 layers, a hotwater bottle, a throw and a pusscat on my knee (he's the new one and is protesting at me typing over the top of him! get used to it, Puss! This is what classes for a social life in this house at the moment! :rotfl:)
Had a lovely walk and lunch out with a friend fairly locally (well, not a 40 mile round trip for a change), also bought a cake and hot cross bun to bring home..who ate the cake? Come on, own up :rotfl:Not cheap, that's for sure but all baked in the tea shop, and their bread looks fantastic...will have to go back soon, methinks
Tomorrow - out walking and lunch with a (different) friend and this is about 40 odd mile round trip, so to really make it worth my while diesel-wise, I'm combining it with a trip to H/Base to use my vouchers on paint I need (timed to prefection to coincide with the 15% discount - thank you CurlyGirl), and my Waitflower voucher turned up today, and Waitflower just happens to be on my way to where I'm meeting my friend........so free treats for me tomorrowAlso, where we need to park, there is a charge, so my friend has suggested meeting elsewhere, and just taking one car to share the cp charge...to save me (and her) money...bless her. Very MSE :T
Saturday - meeting my brother and his GF for a walk, and lunch. We were going out for lunch, but Bruv rang me the other night to say that they are going to cook lunch for me to save me some moneyIs there anyone who doesn't know I'm trying not to spend on none essentials?
Sunday - planning to do some batch cooking from freezer and store cupboard (just need onions) to save having to cook after work.
Monday - last day of freedom - haven't decided yet...but it'll be NSD & NPD, that's for sure
So, not exciting but very pleasant, I hope, and vaguely MSE too.
Have a great weekend everyone. Hope the sun shines on us all

Just been over to the Freebies board (for the first time
) and worked my way through them - have requested loads - sometimes in triplicate with diff email addresses / family postage addresses
Here it is for anyone who, like me, needs to pop their freebies cherry

.....oooh we were down at the bottom of page 3
Easter weekend was not at all MSE for me. Lunch out with Friends, too much spending in supermarkets, last minute easter presents for family (originally I wasn't going to get them anything and then changed my mind). So...new start today
* Drove to work being mindful of my MPG. It was an 80 mile journey so it was well worth the effort as it does make a difference. Shame about the two other drivers who clearly don't give a rats @ss about my MPG or my life for that matter. Twice, drivers pulled out of emergency laybys and did it slowly and where there was no gap and nowhere for me to go quickly and causing me to brake very heavily and swear violently. It was however glorious sunshine as I set off from Derbyshire at 6.30am
*Did a Shopper Thoughts survey for 100 clubcard points - took ages though
*Last night caught up on my spreadsheets, recording my spending. Did online banking this AM, moving money around to where it was needed
*Free lunch from work
*Just plugged my mobile in at work to charge it
How is everyone else doing? Did you have good easter breaks?0 -
Sat eating a scabby sandwich and own brand crisps at work while the rest of my team are having a nice lunch in the work canteen
Oh well its a fiver towards my MF goal....Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k
Savings: £3k
Aim: 100k by Dec 20210 -
Today:
- Charging phone at work.
- Transferred another £50 from PP to OP pot (money from Cro******y and ebay sales)
- No shopping day over the Easter weekend
- Brought my own lunch to work and a flask of coffee
- Used some of my Qmiles which were going to expire soon to get excess baggage allowance of 10 kgs for my friend and he contributed a considerable sum to my OP pot. It would have cost him USD35 per 1000 Qmiles.

Since I started to read this thread I have:
- Read to page 39
- Sent off a letter to try and reclaim tax on my work uniform
- Started a standing order so I can overpay what I can each month
- Discovered TCB
- Found Dooyoo and written 4 reviews and counting
- Decluttered my entertainment room and listed them on ebay, amazon and music magpie
Here is my diary where I do a lot of rambling and ranting :rotfl:
