I was just on my nectar account and I saw something called 'Nectar Canvass', its surveys, so have registered for it. Not sure how long it's been there - perhaps I'm the last to know about it0

LOL at curlygirl - love the microphone image, that's cheered me up no end! :rotfl:
Today I bought this month's toiletries at Home Bargains/Wilkinsons. Unfortunately I then ruined it by splashing out on lamb for a couple of dinners... £8 on a leg joint and about the same on chops    lamb is ridiculously expensive!!Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

Its also good in another respect - it's making me avoid going shopping after work. I'm in danger of the Asda Greeter grabbing hold of me to make an announcement about reduced bread.
Lamb - yeah I picked up some whoopsie the other night and then put it down again cause I thought it was still a lot of money. Wish I had got it though now. You need a bit of variety so it's fine now and again.0 -
Had my first laugh out loud for a few days reading your posts tonight, Curlygirl and very MSE as free!! :rotfl:
Two more things before I shut up shop for the night and try to encourage naughty kitten in...
Shop & Scan completed so a further £1.60 made...whey hey!
1 survey not completed, but it gave me the points anyway despite the fact it screened me out. Result!
I'm still trying to work out the bank account to savngs account back to bank account scenarios
Sweet dreams all

P.S. I have lovely mental pictures of us all in work charging up our personal electical items :T0 -

All buzzing away quite nicely
The way I do it (and I understand this is only really for sad gits with no life) is Spreadsheet accounting. Every single expenditure is noted down - forecasted to the end of the year and over-written when it becomes an actual.
I have a running balance columns - bank, credit card.
Each expenditure is also categorised eg. Household, Transport, Social.....There are monthly subtotals so I can compare it against my Target budget
It's reconciled to my CA and CC statements. If I withdraw cash from the bank account or pay a CC bill, then those amounts are deducted and when i spend the cash or spend on the CC its entered against the categories only.
So the forecast bank balance in this sheet gives me a good idea of how much I will need in the account and when.
It's time consuming to set up but easy to keep on top of.
The columns are:
Transaction date
Transaction description
Transaction in/out of Bank
Bank Balance
Transaction in/out Credit Card
Credit Card Balance
Then I have spending categories
The rows starting from the top would go something like:
Column title
Opening Balance
Salary going in
Bills going out
All your other transactions
Sub total for month
My forecast starts off the same for every month - the basics and then I use that as a template and add things to it eg. A little extra at Xmas
I know roughly how much I'm going to spend on Food, Fuel every week and enter this 4/5 times under every month, I have a social allowance, toiletries etc. I know what my bills are going to be, I know when annual expenses such as insurance are going to be due (although these are paid for out of my savings ultimately).
Anyway blah blah blah hopefully you get the picture and are still talking to me now you know my dirty secret0 -

Em...have you thought about getting help?
Well, I'm not spreadsheet-motivated at all . In fact, I shudder to think of spreadsheets outside of work:rotfl:, so all I did last night was work out what bills I'm needing to pay next month (some have to be estimated like my electricity bill), and that will be the amount I transfer into my ING savings account. I've marked on my calendar the dates and amounts I need to transfer various amounts back to my current account to cover the bills going out.
I'll see how it goes next month. The plus side of using the calendar is that I look like I have a social life as my calendar is crammed with little notes :rotfl:
Have a good day now :T

Quick round up for me - not much, really
Made DH use TCB when he was buying some sportswear online (for running - free exercise as opposed to gym membership)

Did some of my shopping in A!di this morning - passing it on way back from school run (no real extra fuel and cheaper f&v)

Bought 300 2nd class stamps last weekend ahead of the price rise

Shala-moo - not sure if you've spotted it but Kazza's thread is EXCELLENT for finding good ISA's. Check out post 1.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/401374My epilator isn't battery operated. I wonder if I went into work early and sat under my desk.......no, best not to really

OMG now that is Hardcore MSE!! Surprised he doesn't have a strip wash in the urinals as well before he goes. Actually we have a shower at work - it's really nice as well. It's a wet room that opens out onto a main corridor and somehow it just wouldn't feel 'right' being naked so close to my colleaguesThat and the fact I'd have to bring my towel and all my palavar with me.
