Not much else going on here. If anyone has a magic cure for pregnancy piles please, please share.

Jediteacher, I had truly unbelievable ones with both pregnancies. I swear they hurt more than the stitches. I was using some stuff that the GP prescribed but my lovely community midwife said to get myself to the local health food shop and buy some Nelson's homeopathic pile ointment. That stuff is brilliant, worked much better than the prescription strength stuff.

And it comes in useful later because it's also very good for shrinking bags under the eyes (main ingredient is witchhazel)
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Aww thanks all, I do love my girls :D They are driving me a little bit nuts this holiday though :S
Dollydaydream, you might think those shelves look organised - but you can't see inside the cupboard :O :O It's a daily battle against clutter with kids around... Gailey I feel for you!! We live in a 70s ex-council house which is very generously proportioned inside - tiny garden though :( and I know how much clutter, toys, equipment and the rest they need. P.S. Do you need a highchair for the new arrival?
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D

    Beware !
There is a down side to water meters though - my friend had a leak on her pipe and it was a year before it was detected and she had to pay over £2,000 for water used even though it was the faulty pipe that caused it.

I was worried about that too, as we are set back quite a way from the road, where the meter would have to be. I seem to remember our household insurance covers us for that, I'll have to check.

I wonder if we could get water aid for this country for £8 a month  - that is a gripe for another day

There was a flyer for that in my water rates. I used to support Water Aid but at £49 a month for one person, the water company can take my contribution out of their profits. I might think again if the bill goes down.

You're a star thanks for that. I'm going to try the TCP and if that doesn't work I'll give the Nelson's a try. I am soo willing to try anything.

Because I have SPD I have to sit straight and not sideways but with the piles I have to sit sideways!!! Had a flair up of my SPD this week and had two appointments with the physio on the NHS to keep myself mobile. Honestly, I feel like I have got every awful pregnancy sympton under the sun this time round and to top it all off I'm having the glucose test tomorrow and knowing my luck that will be positive too!!!

Ah, well this is a much longed for baby and I shouldn't moan as it took a lot to get to this stage and I do know how lucky I am to be able to have a baby at all.

Just going to cook my bargain sausages from the co-op and make toad-in-the-hole. Since discovering how easy it is to make the batter I cannot believe I ever bought the packet stuff!:o

I had ME in my mid 30s. I was in a stressful job and I was so ill I ended up unable to work at all for a couple of months and only able to work part time for some time after that. I remember the terrible cold which was literally painful and all the digestive upsets as clearly as if it was yesterday. Actually the IBS type symptoms have never gone away.

What made the difference to me was having a baby, believe it or not. I must be one of the only women in England who can say having a baby made her less tired!! I have read that that is not unknown - it's as if the complete shakeup of your hormones kick starts a recovery process.

But what interests me about what you have all been posting is I can see a possible connection with the disruptive effect on the hormones from all the chemicals in our environment that act as xenoestrogens. So that would tie in with speculation that it is pollution that has a part to play in accounting for the rise in ME even if the immediate cause is a viral illness (as it was in my case)

Jediteacher, you can get special cushions from the mobility shop that have a U shape cut out to take pressure off your tail. I used one when when I fractured a vertebra at the base of my spine and I would think it would help with the piles thus enabling you to sit straight

Just had my statement for my water bill. They want £32 a month!! Do you think a meter would be cheaper? Theres only me and my DD all week and BF of a weekend. I have a shower and no garden to water as its a terrace.

I only pay about £6 a month, and I'm on a meter. I bath daily, water the garden in summer etc.

Hello folks - lots of good reading on here!
Been out for a walk with DD today so I enjoyed the sun (yippee) as i have been affected this winter by lack of light - first year I've really felt this. Nice and frugal exercise. Went to the local cycle shop and bought a cycle map of Edinburgh as I was so impressed with DD's one - lots of pathways I didn't know so lots more local walks planned with dogs.
Walked down to Te$co when I got home and got a few bits so that's added to the grocery challenge. I think I'm going to come in under budget this time for the first time ever. I've been really scrupulous at sticking to a menu plan and also freezing every hygienic scrap! We've also had quite a lot of veggie meals and DH has enjoyed them. JackieG - I made pasta with garlic and chilli in olive oil - I think you said that was your DH's fav meal? I added some broccoli as I have a load to use up and had no salad stuff in to have along with it. Anyway, DH loved it. This is the man who ate meat and 2 veg, meat and 2 veg when i first met him 11 or 12 years ago. He is a work in progress :p.
Mardatha - you asked which spices we use. I use a lot of dried chilli seeds, turmeric (stains everything yellow but good for you), cumin, coriander, ginger and then less of paprika, something mixed like a general steak seasoning or a spicy mix, cinnamon, mustard seeds. I like white pepper for soup and loads of cracked black pepper in other food. HTH.
Tea from freezer tonight - breaded fish for DH, Thai fishcake for me, broccoli (hhmm did I say I have a lot of this at the moment?!) and think I'll do spicy wedges. So the fish element isn't very OS but at least I'm making the wedges.
    Have a good evening folks.
