  • Well bed for me now. I am tackling today's tough time by going to the carboot sales tomorrow to sell my weans, I mean wares. OH never got paid today and I have only a wee bit of cash in the house, so am off to drum up some money for petrol, diesel and food. Those shoppers better barter hard tomorrow as I will be looking for top dollar ;) Hope you are all having a good evening. x

Goodness me..it always takes me ages to catch up (after just a couple of hours!!) and as I have the short term memory of a goldfish I will say ((Hugs)) to everyone who is fed up/feeling carp/ had a bad day x
And yay for the car sorting-result (was it malarkin?)
Re piles..have you tried a cold compress?..dont know if thats still recommended these days and in no way is it medical opinion on my behalf (just so I am not breaking any rules!)

Spices I always have in my cupboard are chili powder, garlic powder, ginger, cumin and tumeric ,onion seeds are great for homemade nan breads and dried mint added to potato salad makes it as yummi as sainsburys taste the difference!!!(i have a habit of reading ingredient lists for recipe ideas!) .

Had a bit of an odd shift at work as I feel like Im constantley in the way and cant actually get all the cleaning done ,because everyone is in my way!! Of course I dont expect them all to shift because they have a job to do too- but I dont like the odd looks I keep getting!! I think I am going to start half an hour later as I only have a hour and loads to do. Luckily as long as I do my hour I can choose when to go in , within reason! I like to do a good job ,so hopefully this will work out better all round. I have got myself into a nice little routine and if alone I can fly through all my work.
Not something I want to be doing forever though....(unless I can get a better hourly rate!!)
We had a lovely tea tonight , I was very organised and cooked some pasta and made a cheese and smoked sausage sauce before I left for work today. Just popped the pasta in boiling water when I got home, heated the sauce in the microwave and it was scrummy and quick!
Re costco..was advised on the gc thread about the cheap sugar and my dad has a card . I need to ask him if I can tag along next time he goes!

my lovely community midwife said to get myself to the local health food shop and buy some Nelson's homeopathic pile ointment. That stuff is brilliant, worked much better than the prescription strength stuff.

And it comes in useful later because it's also very good for shrinking bags under the eyes (main ingredient is witchhazel)
:rotfl: Oh, that's class that is - treating the bags under your eyes with hemorrhoid ointment! :rotfl:

 well knew it would be bad news re the inlaws property s'pose I'd better trundle off to the housebuyers board to see how much its gonna cost us
Long story short inlaws sold property but 'alledgedly' didn't transfer title deeds so we now have to go through a Cypriot court, probate and all manner of other hurdles to sort out the mess...:(
Carp day really! Hippee can they not help with cab fares like they do at tribunals??

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time on the house front hun :(
Erm - I don't know tbh, I hadn't even considered a cab because I can't afford one. I might have to look into that further - thanks

Good Luck tomorrow Jackie - hope you raise lots of dosh
Good Luck also to you Jediteacher with your test - hope it comes back negative

I only pay about £6 a month, and I'm on a meter. I bath daily, water the garden in summer etc.

Goodness I wish mine was that low......I pay £36 a month and we ARE on a meter :( It was cheaper for me to pay Water Rates but once the metres are in that's it. I use a water butt to water the garden but have 2 young kids that need a bath every other day, I can't remember the last time I had a bath it's always a shower, water saver in the cistern, don't have a DW just the WM <sigh> our patio needs a jet wash and I am dreading doing it due to the cost of the water.

Day off today and actually WENT OUT (shock horror probe) with DH. We bunged the dog in the car and drove to Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door and it was lovely even though there was a HUGE cloud over both places.

DD decided not to come, she said she didn't want to play gooseberry (suspect she had far more fun jumping her horse tbh).

Anyway, for those of you who don't live in Dorset :D, this is Lulworth Cove and this is Durdle Door. They are both pretty places. And notice the HUGE cliffs all round them. Durdle Door particularly. It was OK going down - a bit muddy and slippy. But coming up again was...er... less good.

    So I am shattered.

But I am now sitting down so I'm happy. Hope all of you who have had carp days have better ones tomorrow.

In re sewing machine manual - which machine is it? One of us might have it if you post?

That sounds a wonderful day ChocClare. I've been to both several times, and they're very beautiful. Lulworth especially makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. Lovely :)

There are some truly outstanding walks and scenery in Dorset. In 2009 OH and I had really got into serious hiking for a year. We absolutely loved it. Then last Jan I was made redundant, car failed it's MOT so we're now carless too so have neither the money or the means to get to the remote parts than we enjoyed hiking in, so it was well and truly knocked on the head. Such a shame. Nothing like a good hike and being at one with nature to put your troubles into perspective and breathe a new least of life into you.

    lovely pics clare

Well the veggie burgers turned out far better than i thought they would. Even OH was impressed:eek:

    Veggie Burgers

    250g red lentils (optional)
    400g yellow split peas
1/2 packet of sage and onion stuffing mix
    salt pepper seasoning
    2 eggs beaten
    breadcrumbs
    flour (for dipping)

Cook lentils + split peas till cooked, then drain
Make up the stuffing as directed

When slightly cooled mix the lentil, split peas and stuffing together with seasoning

Make patties out of lentil, stuffing mix

Dip patties in flour, then egg, covered in breadcrumbs.
Repeat till all mixture is used.

Fry in a bit of oil till browned on both sides, then serve.

We all really enjoyed these, very light and refreshing. OH liked them better than falafel so its all good.
