Companies tend to employ doctors who are sympathetic to the company's situation when it comes to assessing people when they are ill!
i was once sent to a specialist rhumatologist who was 'unknown' to my company and he wrote an honest and accurate report on my condition. The company doctor was not happy and summonsed me to meet him in the rhumatologist's office and spelt it out to the specialist that he would never get any more work from my company because of his 'honesty'-the company pays the doc so he generally favours the employermfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
*Maya* - tried to post last night but it was after we'd been locked!
Last year I started off my seeds in cut up toilet tubes with cloches made from empty pop bottles over them. When the time came for them to go into bigger tubs, I asked on Freegle and was overwhelmed with offers of plant pots! I didn't plant anything in the ground as I am moving imminently (in with my BF as well), so did troughs with toms, courgettes, carrots, salad and herbs in. My peppers didn't amount to much, but I am going to try them again.
Good luck!0 -

Maya, growing your own can be cheap but it really takes a couple of years to build up everything you need. You can grow veggies in any old container as long as its deep enough for what you are growing. My back garden looks like Steptoes back yard in the spring with tubs, buckets, old car tyres, syrup tins ( I love seeing plants in tins!) as well as the usual beds. The car tyres were free, garages are glad to get rid of them but they take quite a bit of compost, I did courgettes in a stack of 2 tyres last year and they cropped continually. The plastic tubs you get mince etc in are good as seed trays but I did find a cheap mini greenhouse was a big help last year. Basically you need to plant things in small amounts over a few weeks so you dont get all you veg at one picking. The gardening threads are a big help too on here and people are quite happy to answer questions from beginners.
I was sat here pondering ME too Mardatha, there seem to be a lot of people with it nowadays. I had it in 1990 for a year or so and was unable to walk most of the time and gave up my position as top North west recruiter for Avon. I think a dose of chickenpox started me off coupled with stress but I agree additives and chemicals in our food may well be a part of it. Proves how important it is to live like we do on here, making most of our foods from fresh.
Am a bit down today, I have lost the manual for my sewing machine and cannot set the tensions without it. Went online and its 30 dollars for a new one, apparently there are a lot of people searching for the same manual  As i am having to have quite a few NSD's at the mo due to lack of any money Im now sulking quietly!:o

i finally sorted something out yesterday that is vaguely connected to health--i got some insurance to cover treatment here or if in severe need to be taken back to the uk--i still pay my full stamp and tax in the uk and council tax!-the quotes varied from hundreds up to many thousands! i went for the bargain basement because i generally pay for my own day to day medical needs by going private but if i had an accident i am now covered to be given some treatment!!--kinda worth the money for some peace of mind!-Mrs DH pays the equivalent of NI here to cover her and Sd but i am not covered because i am foreign!
i have just spoke to my mum and i wonder if the nhs knows what it is doing! it worries me what is happening to the expertise in the service!--she had a cateract op in January because she had pain in her eyes-she saw a new doc yesterday and he looked at her eyes and said she actually had shingles --it was also under her hairline and she was unaware--the pain in her eyes never went away after the op but now she is on aggressive medication for shingles she feels better--i do wonder!!!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Well, looks like the second job has gone as no one is going out drinking/eating so they dont need me at the moment! Absolutely gutted as I was banking on that making the money up that I lost from being off sick!
Looks like rice for breakfast, dinner and tea from now on.0 -
i actually live in a culture where rice is a stable of the diet--we rarely eat meat and people supplement the diet with nuts--a bit like vegitarism but without the rigidity. i heard the news earlier talking about the risk of cancer connected to red and processed meats--i was as bad as anyone when i lived in the uk but have adopted the local food happily and dont feel poor--i feel healthy and my weight is good--during the second world war the uk's health was at its best because of restriction!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

Ginny, most machines are fairly similar when it comes to adjusting the tensions apart from minor differences. Would this online leaflet be a help to you? This eHow webpage is also quite well written and has links to instructions for Pfaff and Brother machines.0 -
Just had my statement for my water bill. They want £32 a month!! Do you think a meter would be cheaper? Theres only me and my DD all week and BF of a weekend. I have a shower and no garden to water as its a terrace.
Gailey - I was wife no 2 for my ex and he had 2 kids when I met him and I became their stpmum. His daughter was lovely but his son wasnt. Caused lots of problems when his mother got fed up with him and he came to live with us aged 17. He's 26 now and still lives with his father. His father and I are now divorced (not his sons fault but he didnt help). I wont go out with a man who has children now, which is very hypocritical of me as I have a child but I would rather be single.I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round0
