    Thank you.

We have had a strange yellow orb in the sky here today also. Its really uplifting to have a bit of blue sky rather than grey:j!

Vesper I really feel for you with the housing situation and hope that something comes up for you so (((hugs))) cos it just sucks.

Malarkin I would second the photo taking but try not to worry all night (which is what I would do lol!) and wait until you actually talk to them. If you have been visiting the garage for 20+ yrs then hopefully then it will all be sorted for you . I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

My supervisor didn't turn up at work today and I really needed to ask her about a few things, like when will I get payed, who do I contact re holidays and where are all my documents taken for ID! I hope its the case that she simply forgot and am going to try and phone her tomorrow. In the meantime I hope no one complains that I haven't buffed the floor but haven't been shown how to use the buffer yet and am not allowed to use it till I am:cool:!

On an o/s front..just to keep roughly on topic;) its taking me roughly 10 Min's to walk to work so am saving a fortune on petrol(basically it would wipe out my wage) .. I walk past a very long que of traffic into town and am usually going faster than the cars anyway:D. I really need to consider the possibility of getting a different car. I only have an automatic license and the downside is that the cars tend to guzzle fuel. Mine is really bad as it has a 1.4lt engine but is an estate so struggles to go on the flat:eek: going up steep hills is very embarasing:o..as for the road tax £200 p/y!
The thing that is putting me off is that I have been very unlucky with cars in the past and dont have anyone who I could take with me to buy one..so am scared of buying another pile of !!!!!! Not sure what to do for the best:(

Instead of bickering like schoolkids maybe we should be busy getting ready for the next round of petrol and price rises when the oil goes up again ? They are saying it will hit £1.40 in the next few weeks. Re Libya it doesnt look like things will settle anytime soon, with nobody capable of taking control, so the oil might not be back on stream any time soon.
Can we cut any more off our budgets ladies ?

Petrol £1.37.9p ish here, and diesel £1.43.9p ish at last check!:eek::eek::eek:
I definitely drive less these days, but as we live in such a beautiful place sometimes a drive to a scenic spot or two is a nice way to spend the day. Might just have to take picnic supplies with us everytime though!

I have been pricing up lights and a more comfortable saddle for my bike. Now that the worst of the cold is gone (hopefully) I think this might be the next step for me. It's only 3.5 miles, and there are two days a week I won't be able to do it. It'll be good for me too :)

Might be a big outlay initially but worth the reduced food and toiletries cost in the long term ;).
LOL seriously though my DH is having to deal with less meat on his plate (more veggies and carbs) and cheaper toiletries too!

If I thought I could come out of work to find a whole bike I would be cycling to work too ....but round here it would definitely have no wheels after 10 mins:eek: so will have to rely on my little legs. It would take a lot longer than 10 mins to walk home carrying the remains of a bike:rotfl::rotfl:

  • I live in a small village with a village hall and a little church and everything revolves around these two places. People make an effort and put quite a few fund raising entertainments/activities on for both the church and hall. It is a great way to meet people when you are new but I feel that we have reached a point when we have to start turning a few things down eg £20 for us both to go to the latest show is just too much. Some of the organisers tend to be well -off retired folks and won`t take no as an answer when they come sellig tickets door to door. That does annoy me but you can`t say that to them so I end up telling a white lie.

shame i missed all the trolling, i like a good bicker some days ....

  • I am shocked by the speed at which cooking oil is going up. Does anyone know of any suitable alternatives? I seem to remember American recipes which use a small amount of water to "fry" things like onions in a completely fat free kind of a way but have yet to try that method.
Was really pleased yesterday to bring my grocery shop in at 1p under budget before remembering that I had forgotten to buy porridge oats so will have to be really imaginative with breakfasts until Monday.
