If you try the battery hen welfare trust they give details of rehomers in different areas then you can contact them who will have a chat with you about having chickens then give you details of their regular rehoming days. hope this helps :)

Evenin' all..and hello newbies!! All this talk of chickens makes me sooo jealous. Cant have any girls where i live which is so frustrating and I have names ready and everything!! I live for the day when I can share my garden with some chucks and the cooing sounds they make..and not the roar of some boy racer going past....grrh!

I am very proud of my ds1 today as he came home with his last lot of GCSE results in science and he got an A and B. :TThis is for his yr 10 exams and he has another year to go yet! Went to parents evening for ds2 yesterday and teacher said she wished all the kids were like my ds..so very proud of him too:T........and well dds yr 7 report wasnt bad either and she managed an outstanding in her maths :Tso all round I am a very proud mum! Soz..probably dead boring to most folks but I cant help it!!:D

Also found out today that my ex lied to me about returning the divorce petition a month ago:mad:..my solicitor phoned and from what she said I have a feeling he is going to start playing silly beggers...I had a feeling that something was going on because he has been trying to be nice to me (not like him at all) So I suppose it comes vaguely on topic if things are going to get tough for me because he is going to start fighting me over the house:o ..I am just going to have to wait and see but I dont think things are going to go smoothly:(
I was kind of hoping it would be sorted before my birthday in summer which would be a major milestone in my life after the terrible year I had last year , and I am just going to focus on how far I have come..I must not let him drag me back down;)!
I really need to get a grip with the house as I am going to have to get it valued..no more slummy mummy for me:DHousework must now be completed and decorating finished. Not sure how I am going fit it all in but onwards and upwards in the bean household.......

Shegar You Probably already know about this but I am posting in case you don't.
A friend with a hubby suffering MS gets it and she gets loads of respite, plus carers for night time. If the powers get stroppy she sets her solicitor sil on them.

Good Morning everyone and hello to all those who joined recently.

Interesting that we all seem to have the feeling that we need to batten down the hatches and get ready for rough weather but feel that the only place we find like minded people is on this thread.

One of my dear friends has been ill this last year, knows she will not be able to work full time anymore and still continues to live her (fairly extravagant) lifestyle. I know she barely managed even when on full pay and her OH was in a better job than he has now.

Isn't it hard to keep quiet and not give unsolicited advice? All I could do was tell her that I had found this great site and she should check it out because it's full of interesting info.

Here been loving the sunshine these last few days. People generally seem happier.

have a lovely day everyone take care of yourselves.

:)ChocClare, that recipe is brilliant and I love it and I've got the other half to eat tonight and it's a happy thought. I'd had the thighs out of the freezer and in the fridge whilst I was at work but they still weren't quite thawed so I cooked them for ages until the meat was about to fall off the bone. The scent of the cooking was a torment and I half-expected to be stormed by the neighbours wanting a share, it was that gorgeous. My cheapy pack was 4 good sized thighs and two titchy ones (probably the chicken equivalent of Kate Moss....:rotfl:) so I cooked them all and ate three at a time.

:) So, that's a definate addition to the A4 folder with plastic sleeves where I keep my recipes and it will be captioned "ChocClare's Chinese Chicken" and passed from hand-to-hand (unless you'd prefer to be anonymous in my folder; let me know.)

:D And. I've got all those other recipes to try out too.......get a feeling that I have found a new forte....thanks so much to you all.

 Hello Helen and hello Joeck, nice to meet you.

:) It's clear and sunny outside and I'm hoping to get out on the lottie this weekend and really crack on. Got the parents coming up (weather permitting) so will point Dad at a bit of ground (he loves to dig) and Mum, me and the staple gun will recover the bits of my plastic greenhouse which need it. Mum built my greenhouse, which is 5 foot square and pent-roofed and tall enough to stand up in from timber which I'd wombled here and there, mainly old pine bedsteads, and I love it. True allotment ethos, something from nothing.

:) To those who are facing snow and similar, keep warm and keep well and can anyone get Mardatha some sweeties? I'm a chocoholic and I feel her pain.......

I had cavity wall insulation done the same way - only paid the balance which if memory serves was £190. Mine I organised via a leaflet through the door........

Thanks Bitsy Beans - you made me feel much better.

Another sick feeling has arrived as ever since I had a rep from a shutter company come over to give a quote two things have gone missing. He went back upstairs while I was in the other room to get another measurement. Not sure what to do. Friend said I should report it to the police as they may already have a file on this person. I am frantically looking for the two things - perfume and a piece of jewellery - in case I have mislaid them.

Welcome joeck68 and helen jelly (though I'm sure I've met you before, helen?).

I love the feeling of community on this thread - which is why it's so discordant when we get the thankfully only very occasional poster who doesn't post in a supportive and friendly way. I've been on other forums and always come running back - WAY too scary!

I've had so many hints and tips from here and you always feel happy to be able to post something back, I think. I posted ages ago a little mantra I had read about self-sufficiency, which included "support your local community" as one of the things to do each week - definitely what we do on here!

Thanks - your mention of supporting your local community hit a chord. Once a month I serve meals to old folks in the neighbourhood which I did originally to support the community. As it turns out the stories, warmth, wisdom and joy from the old folks are actually helping ME out. There's a lot of old folks out there and one day we'll be one of them. Have a great day all of you - the sun is SHINING!!:j

Oh dear! Do hope theres an innocent explanation and you find they've just blown under your bed or something. IS there a possibility that you've had them near an open window and a gust of wind blew them somewhere outa sight?

If you search all you can and still cant find them and the only explanation left is that this man must have stolen them - then you WILL have to report him I'm afraid. He needs to be sacked to prevent him doing this to anyone else.

I have actually been in that position - I walked in and caught him in the act:eek:. Another time - it came down to it was either the workman or a neighbour that was left "minding things" (so I couldnt report it - because I wasnt quite sure which of them was the thief..all I could do was be wary of the neighbour after that in case...).

One doesnt think a workman would be so stupid as to steal something from a customers house - but sometimes they ARE that stupid..

    I've been Money Tipped!
The sun IS shining, but I have woken with really bad back and a usefless left leg (I have a neurological condition so don't need to see the doctor about this). Took a while to get out to the yard, thank fully all the horses were beautifully considerate and well behaved, the dogs gave be a wide berth while tearing about and the chooks had plenty of food in their feeders.

The balance of this is that DH was meant to be in Japan this week and didn't go, for which I am incredibly grateful now.

Oh, and I left the phone upstairs and there is no way I'm dragging myself upstairs just for that so I've put the water on to heat up and I'll try and remember it when I go upstairs for a bath, which, with any luck, may improve the situation wth my body this morning!

Thanks. I'm going to comb the room today which still has packing boxes from the move a few months ago. I don't want them to have been stolen and am frightened that if I report him I might get backlash from him. Will let you know.

Thanks Ceridwen. I'm going to go through the room today with a fine tooth comb. Its still got packing boxes from our move a few months ago. I honestly don't want them to have been stolen. I fear if he did take them that there may be backlash from him in the future.
