My DS has stopped having driving lessons as he won't be able to afford the insurance... :( Its so unfair on kids now.

Does anyone know if us laydees will be hugely affected - I'm thinking the 35+ age bracket?
i managed to be able to afford DS driving lessons and he passed first time. but i told him straight if he dident pass that was it he had to go it alone without any help, i'm sorry but that driving instructor was bleeding us dry, i know driving instructors have to make a living and have alot of expense but jeesh! i really felt ghe was taking the P,
however i think it can only help his job prospects having a full license so i dont really regret it, but it did make us really hard up at times

Many moons ago when i was a young man and learning to drive the thing that really made me pass my test was becoming the family chaffeur--i had lessons but a couple of times a week is no substitute for repetitive daily driving-my mum was a district nurse and i drove her about.-i passed first time and have never had an accident in 30 years--omg i just did the math on that!!--im 48.

Dh and i are back on form! these mood swings are disconcerting for my happiness.--she is much more positive now and its makes me feel the same.- she worries me!--and i may think this may be menopausal! so many years to come!

Nothing growing up here either - just snowdrops and crocus. Gardening is freezing ! I think in the old days they maybe wore warmer clothes. I am wondering where to get old books on veg growing or allotment stuff ? Even wartime ones ?

I have a pretty old allotment veg growing book - it has pictures of working men digging long lines of potatoes in heavy three piece suits and tweed caps! Useless for me for modern use though as not just inorganic, but advising adding huge amounts of inorganic compounds/fertilizers/weedkillers etc. that are now banned for very good reasons!

İ remember my grandfather who had a huge garden which was set out as allotment mix--he always wore a suit with a pinney while he gardened-he was a keen cross breeder of things like tomatoes aka genetic modification from the victorian gardener--his frit and veg was to die for! he had so much he left it outside the gate for passer byes--in the great depression when people were too proud to take charity he would exchange food for allsorts of items--i remember as a kid marvelling at these oddities in the outhouse.--the talk on here has me thinking of him and depression of economy--i was around him in the 70s when times were tough.

upload them to photobucket, then copy the URL under the pic on photobucket and click "insert picture" on the toolbar on the text box, and copy the URL into the box that pops up. :)
