I would never have thought to weigh supermarket cheese, but think on principle would have wanted to complain in this instant, even though only a few pence worth of cheese.0

I'd def write a letter to Cathedral w. a digital pic of the scales with the cheese on it & the bag w. weight on it showing & send them an email. Find out the equivilant of the above organization here (there MUST be one) & let them know that you're prepared to escilate things further & get (uk version of dept of weights & measures involved) should they fail to respond in a timely manner, etc etc...That's what I'd do they can't just get away with it! Good luck & well done for being a consciencious consumer!
Have emailed Cathedral Cheddar on their website form. Have already got a 'holding' reply..and discovered that they are actually

It looks like accuracy is not cathedral city's forte! How can this picture be this recipe? What is the green and where are the tomatoes? http://www.cathedralcity.co.uk/recipes/details.aspx?rid=24&mt=MainMeal Who else thinks the picture is spinach and ricotta canneloni?0

OK....so,
inspired by this I weighed the contents of the 150 gram packet of pecans from which I needed 50g for dh's pudding tonight ...and there were just under 140g of nuts.
I sense a new hobby developing .....
edit: I don't mind things being a little out: they can't give me half a nut. And often they err to the generous side...I just want to know if the 15 grms here...20grams here averages in their or my favour!0 -
Wow - I'm going to be weighing everything tomorrow....fascinating :-) Let us know if you get a response!!0

5% underweight is weigh out of line!
(sorry, couldn't resist) Seriously that is naughty. With modern production methods they can be pretty accurate. They probably check the total weight of a batch but that is not what the individual consumer is entitled to rely onIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
:rotfl:Maybe it was low fat cheese! (sorry...couldn't resist that one!)Why does my dog chase cars? Even if he caught one he hasn't passed his test!0
