Does anyone know how this letters work on Jersey Banks?0
-
A friend of mine has had a succesful claim, and we have also received an offer from the HSBC. We turned it down and have asked for more, waiting to hear any day now. We both live on the Isle of Man and use various Island banks.Hello
I have enjoyed reading about all the claims won, but being in the Isle of Man, I have not heard of anyone doing it from here, If your an islander it would be encouraging to hear of anyone who has had successful claims.:;)
Look Forward to hearing,
Cheers

Hi
My wife and I moved from Jersey to the UK about a year ago,but we still kept our Jersey bank accounts open.We claimed from them using the London head office address,as over the last 7 years my wife has paid quite a few charges.
We claimed not really expecting to get anywhere ,because as we all know, the laws are completely different from the UK.So imagine our surprise when we got a letter awarding her nearly £500.We had claimed the interest as well, but we don;t want to push it.The letter said that if we went to court they would be confident of wiinning the case, but were willing to settle, to save all the hassle & cost.(Yeh whatever !!!!)So just to let all you people with Jersey/Guernsey accounts know,it can actually be done.Yippee0 -
Just to let you all know, we managed a succesful claim back from the HSBC Isle of Man. At first, they offered approx two thirds of our orignail claim. I turned this down, requesting the full amount, added interest as a little extra meassure, and they came back with an improved offer, in fact, the full ammount. Wife very happy... :jHi,
Recieved an email from a colleague of mine, quite out of the blue, who lives on the Isle of Man, I am sure he wont mind me posting it here.
"A friend of ours at the top of Copse Hill put me onto this website (below). By following the simple steps I managed to get over £2100 back in bank charges (2x separate bank accounts).
It takes you through the complete process and even has preped letters to send to the bank.
I thought it was only fair to share this information with you.... (COS THATS THE TYPE OF GUY I AM!!)
If you are interested in applying to get your bank charges back, do it sooner rather than later as the banks are frantically trying to change their terms and conditions, but as you can imagine, this can't be done by them overnight.

Cheers and good luck."
And I have also been offered some money back, but have decided to ask the bank for more, deciding thier offer wasn't high enough. Fingers crossed0 -

I worked and banked overseas for many years but maintained an account with Midland Offshore in Jersey [now HSBC] to look after UK domestic bills. I've been back in the UK for the last ten years and kept my account in Jersey. I've just sent them a letter asking for details of all charges incurred in the last six years.
I'll update this when I get a response.0 -

Update
29 May I wrote requesting a schedule of default charges
09 Jun I received copy statements for last 6 years
14 Jun I wrote [by e-mail] demanding a 100% refund
16 Jun I received an offer of 95%
17 Jun I replied, accepting the offer
20 Jun Money transferred into my account
No animosity. No suggestion of closing my account. No hassle.0 -
Hi, I was wondering whether anybody had managed to successfully reclaim bank charges from any bank in Guernsey?0
-
Hi All
Does this law on unfair bank charges extend to Guernsey? The bank account is at the Guernsey branch of the Co-operative, whos head office is in Manchester
Cheers, good luck all!!
