I love the idea of a vision board, I'm going to have a look round my flat at the weekend, see if I can find something suitable to make one on.

Mine is all going to centre round one of the same points as you Emz - I want to be a writer.

Have already started this month with writing online articles so let's see where it leads :D

Well done for starting with the writing already. I'm just trying to get my work done for the month and am then going to see how I can get started myself.

I had been playing with the idea for months and never really doing anything (I'm good at procrastination!) then at the beginning of May I set myself the goal of one article a day. I've since managed 19, so not quite one a day, but a lot more than I'd done before!

Good luck with your attempts xx

    Hi everyone

Went to the hospital this morning. Thankfully I don't have a chest infection, just a really bad throaty cough and cold. There was some snooty doctor there from Southampton talking to patients about moving there in August.

She couldn't understand why I didn't want to move hospitals. Umm, because I have been going to that clinic for 15 years, because there are only 18 patients there so I get the best care and attention (160 patients at Southampton), it's only 10 minutes down the road (southampton is 40 minutes), I know all of the staff there and some of them are more like close friends than medical staff - need I go on?? Stupid woman.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not adverse to change or anything, but when I can't see any benefit for me as a result of the changes, then I don't like it. Maybe in a few years time, I will see some benefits (like if they get gene therapy off the ground), but at the moment there are none and this woman was shocked that I didn't want to change right over to Southampton instantly.

I think I need to watch her too. She asked when I last had IVs and when I said October 2009, she looked surprised and had this glint in her eye. I've seen doctors like that before, they seem to want to put patients on IVs just for the sake of it. Not me lovey!!!

Luckily there are 2 other doctors at Southampton, so I'm hoping that she didn't like me and puts me on someone else's list. I think the only thing I can do to control the situation myself is to keep myself in tip-top health so that I only have to go there every few months.

Anyway, glad I've got that off my chest. OH is away for the weekend at his parents, so I've got a nice relaxing weekend. I think he wants to get away from my coughing :o.

I can understand what you mean about changing hospitals if your happy there why change? I have been asked (informally) to take on an extra department and Ive done it before but I prefer being in one department, when my new Manager starts I'll discuss it with him!

No, not stupid. It's an argument strategy (Argumentum ad lapidem). Probably in this case there's a little bit of Appeal to Authority mixed in.

As in "I am a Doctor. I want this to happen for unspecified reasons. I don't need to specify them because I'm right. You don't want this to happen? This is not my position, therefore you are wrong. You have reasons? They are wrong too. Absolutely wrong, with no merit to them. No, don't bother me with them. Why are you still disagreeing with me? I don't understand how you can. I'm shocked anyone can disagree with someone so right as what I am all the time."

There are people who are less sure of themselves who will buckle under that sort of line of reasoning. The rest of us don't. We just try to avoid them, in case they think they're back in their village...

You may end up finding out she lives next door to Southhampton Hospital...

    Yeah, *sure* she was...

I see there's a lot of patient/doctor trust getting established here...

Or asked to be moved. Say you're allergic to her or something.

Believe me, if I could stay at my current hospital, then I would. Because of government cuts, all CF patients now have to go to specialist CF centres and Southampton is my nearest one.

About 40 minutes away from me. Could be worse I guess, but it will cost me about £15 a time in petrol and parking. It will definitely put me off going to the hospital when I feel ill, like I do now. Going to have to go to my GP a lot more.
