Your post #55 refers to help available from Islington Local Authority and has no relevance to emergency cash payments available to claimants from DWP

Well these facts are from DWP
We will look at the individual circumstances of an application. We will consider if a Crisis Loan is the only means by which serious damage or serious risk to you or your family may be prevented in an emergency or because of a disaster.

You can get a Budgeting Loan if you need help with:
    • furniture or household items
    • clothing and footwear
    • rent in advance or removal expenses to secure fresh accommodation
    • home improvements, maintenance or security
    • travelling expenses
    • looking for or starting work (including childcare costs)
    • repaying hire purchase (HP) or other debts that have been taken out to pay for any of the above.

And you need to be on certain benefits (and for a minimum length of time if I remember rightly) to qualify for a budgeting loan, which not everyone is!

Very true and I hope we can agree that I did say it may not be easy or quick, our benefit system is a jungle.
