Glad to see you are getting back to the point of this thread.
For genuine emergencies with gas / water / electricity, the utility companies all provide an emergency service for which there is normally no charge. What other emergencies have you had which would justify your assertion that an agent / LL should provide an emergency number?
I don't have to justify why a LL or agent should provide an emergency number, they should just provide one anyway!
Seeing as you asked so nicely though...
Boiler breaking down in the middle of winter so not hot water or heating (not good when you have small children)
Leaks coming through ceilings (one in bedroom, one in dining room) which you can't stop.
Water burst which leads to a flood.
Problem with boiler where it sounded like gun shots and was going on for hours, with no way of stopping it unless you were a qualified engineer to start messing about with it.
They are just what I can remember off the top of my head.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
A link would be of more use to the op (and the rest of us).0

I refuse to respond to your insults.
It's quite simple, 2 minutes on google will provide you with information regarding financial assistance available in the UK for essential repairs to those in need.
What insults? If anyone is being insulting, it's you.
If 2 minutes on Google could provide me with the information, why couldn't you find the information (instead of providing a link for assistance in the States)?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

I did read your postToilet was broken and would not flush
I took this that to mean the toilet would not flush, rather that the cistern / bowl was broken as surely you would have noticed that? That is certainly very inconvenient but not an emergency.
What was wrong with the toilet and how long did you wait for it to be repaired?
I do hope your complaints have been rectified?

AFIK you do not need this information? I do know where to find the info and will be pleased to share with anyone who does need it. I do not feel the need to prove anything to your satisfaction."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Now you're just being pathetic and I don't give a fig if you think that is insulting or not.
I don't need the info but the OP and other people might so you would be helping those people out instead of trying to get one over on me, only God knows why.
You're not proving anything to me, infact the only thing you have proved so far is that you don't know the difference between the UK and USA and the fact you can't back up your statement.
I'm bowing out of this thread now because it's just getting silly.
OP, I hope you get sorted and I hope your LL manages to get their backside into gear, sort your problems and provide you will an emergency contact numberTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Just a link would be useful. Not just to us reading this thread now, or even the OP, but to others who read these threads who may need it. People are often critisized on here for not doing a "thread search" for info before starting a new thread. It would help if the required info was provided.0 -

We do not know what the exact problem is but it is not flushing, hence why we need a plumber. The toilet has not yet been fixed. Landlord has told us to get a plumber and bill him (we have to hope he pays us back). A plumber that we can afford will hopefully come on monday. In the meantime we have had no working toilet over the weekend and have had to use a bucket full of water to flush. So our water bills will be much more and it is a real pain having to do this just to flush the toilet. Maybe not an emergency to you but I wonder if the table was turned and it was your money being flushed down the loo (excuse the pun), whether you would put up with this kind of treatment. Then again tenants are just cash cows aren't we and now that landlord has our money I suppose making sure the place we are renting is habitable isn't really a major issue to him.0 -
Missile - if you are going to post in threads where people are seeking help you either need to be able to back up your assertions with some facts or recognise that most other readers are likely to dismiss the content of your posts as mere nonsense.
Some Ts who *have a repairing obligation*within the terms of their lease and/or are in receipt of specific benefits can access specific "repairs assistance grants". The OP is unlikely to qualify.0 -

I do sympathise and appreciate that the toilet should have been working when you moved in. I do know how difficult it can be to find a reliable plumber at short notice and I am trying to help."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
