That's where the "stealth overtake" comes in useful

Your " stealth " tactics will not work Strider, many farm vehicles are so wide these days, there simply isn't enough road left for a car to pass.;)
Back to the drawing board..

. Any driver who deviates significantly from everyone else is causing an inconvenience, and potentially a danger, to everyone else, and should be asking the question to themselves as to exactly why their interpretation of a safe speed is not the same as the drivers' around them.
This is my point, only the other way around....I pose the question, does the slower driver know something the faster driver doesn't?...In other words, is the faster driver's observations really up to the speed they want drive at?
You pose the question, does the slower driver not ask why everybody[?} else is happy driving faster?
My own personal viewpoint..[not my 'professional' one]..is that I actually don't rate the driving abilities at all, for 95% of drivers I observe. I don't think of them as idiots...far from it...but I am fully aware they are influenced by their own agendas.
So if I'm driving along at a speed less than the limit, I will have reasons for doing so ..
[ as several motorists found out during my power cut....pulling out in front of me, in a busy urban area...they are far from giving me a problem, due to my driving manner, I coped with them admirably, without drama......much to their collective surprise...One guy even came up to me at a junction and apologised for his actions....as I said, no problem to me! The answer primarily lay in my adjustment of speed to suit how far and clear I could see, not just ahead, but either side as well......instead of bombing along at 30, I was making good headway at around 25mph or so....thus I coped..others would be having a mad flap with much finger waving...]
If someone wishes to drive faster, they have the options to overtake....but because everybody else wishes to hurtle off, doesn't make it a wise choice,in my view.....
But then, if I were a lemming, I'd be the one running in the opposite direction to the cliff!
In the end, you wish to travel faster..you see no reason not to do so..you may be quite right.
{ I suspect it suits you to adopt that angle?]
But equally, you may have got it wrong.
Happy days if nothing actually happens to disprove things one way or the other. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

It's been drumed into motorists that SPEED KILLS for years. Now most believe if they drive slowly they can get away with any other minor infractions.
Never seen a sign saying bald tyres kill or changing cds kills etc???;);)
Sorry, but I don't know which drivers you have been speaking to, but I have never heard any driver expressing such an opinion. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Sorry, but I don't know which drivers you have been speaking to, but I have never heard any driver expressing such an opinion.
No driver would ever express that opinion but it's obvious by observation of their actions that mobile phones, cd players, wiping the kids nose etc etc, have now all become aceptable, they don't kill, only speed kills is the brainwashing that's been handed out on virtually every other road sign in the country.
If, and I'm going off on one now, if the aurthorities really wanted to cut accidents, and I think I'm right in stating most happen at or near some road junction?, they should consider installing more STOP rather than GIVE WAY signs where it's clear to any skilled driver that you can't just merge out of that junction.:mad:
Rant over:oI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
But even now there's plenty of STOP junctions where it's perfectly safe to roll through them at 5-10 mph with good observation, even though that's technically an offence.
If you start using them at junction where, say, a 15mph roll through would be ok, then people will start ignoring the really dangerous STOP junctions.0
