Whoops, 11 March? I suppose you could email them through the contact link if you still have your reference number?

I know of some other retailers that are treating the Co-Op Bank ex-Electron Visa Debit card as an Electron card still. Including a retailer that does not accept Electron. Therefore the card declines.

Just had another email from ASDA, unfortunately it was a resend of the earlier one asking for my first 6 digits of my card. Anyway here is the start of the email.

    Hello ****,

Thank you for your email in regards to your original complaint.

I'm sorry you haven't received a response from us about your bank card. I can imagine you must be feeling disappointed.

Can you confirm via return of my email, if you received the below email we sent?

  • I have sent a reminder to say how I am disappointed with Asda's lack of reply or action, particularly when they indicated they aim to get back to me within a couple of weeks. It has been several weeks now and it's time they at least had some courtesy.
  • Their response to my reminder:

Thanks for your e-mail about our self service pumps not accepting Co-op cashminder cards.

This issue has been passed to our petrol trading team and they are looking into this matter.

I will contact them again and ask them for their comments.

In the meantime, if I can be of further help, please let me know.
  • Asda says today:

Thanks for your patience while I have been waiting for the petrol trading team to get back to me.

We have checked this with our Petrol provider and the reason the card is being declined is that we have this card set up on our systems as an Electron card still.

We cannot recall / or find any notification from the banks requesting us to update this card type therefore this is why it has not be completed previously.

The bin range example we have been given is 450876.

We are checking with the bank to try and get formal notifications of the change to this card type. I can let you know when we receive this, but this could be within the realms of a couple of weeks to be fair, as the information coming back from the bank is usually very slow.

I hope this has helped and if I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
  • I haven't forgotten about this thread, I have sent Asda a reminder tonight to ask what progress they have made and will post any updates when I get them.
