At this stage in the game I think Asda has accepted this is a Visa debit card and should be treated as such, so thanks for the link but I am not sure we need it now.
I did miss a call today from Asda again, I will speak with them tomorrow. Dojoman it's not particularly great to get identical emails sent is it? Still I suppose look on the bright side it is better than no email at all.
I hope to have some news for you all soon, I am not sure what Asda wanted to discuss with me today but I will keep you updated as best as I can.0 -
The link still shows as an electron...0

It does, however I think the info may be out of date. The BIN 450875 has been reallocated some time ago by Visa and if you check the PDF file I linked to in page 3 of this thread it lists the card in the same category as a 'Visa DR' card (in other words a debit card). The info on that website is very comprehensive but since it sources its information from publicly available sources and not directly from the banks it is bound to have some errors.0 -
This says that my 465935 Nationwide visa debit is Bank of Scotland!0 -
Asda are continuing to update me on this. At the moment there is no need for everyone to keep emailing as there are several high level people working on this. Things are moving pretty fast and I hope to be able to tell you something more definite soon.0

This is definitely not true.I know from a reliable source, that supermarket petrol stations get their petrol from the same refinery like the big companies....
It´s all about branding.....
No, mate, it is all about additives.
Your statement is a bit like saying all chocolate is the same, well the beans are but the end product differs substantially.
There is a research report done in the UK by "The Diesel Place" and it measures lubricity and displays this using scar values.
This research shows me beyond reasonable doubt that the minimum standard of lubricity is actually not the same as pre ULSD.
And even if BP or Shell makes the basic product, obvious really as Tesco etc don't have refineries.
What was interesting that one of the best products for improving lubricity, and therefore improving fuel system life, was soy based biodiesel.
Though unfortunately i don't know if the same goes for all biodiesel as most of the stuff in the UK is recycled vegoil, and who konws if this has the same properties as the Soy based stuff tested in the US.
Until then I will use premium diesel and I also add a 1:200 ratio of top spec 2 stroke, this was proved to give a decent increase in lubricity.0 -
This post is about, ASDA fuel stations not excepting CO-OP debit cards. While I appreciate your knowledge of fuel etc it is not adding to the debate.
Your posts are beginning to sound like you are a total anorak.
This forum is for those who are br or are thinking about it, most could not care about the fuel they put in. We/they are running cheap second hand cars, and will buy the cheapest fuel we/they can.
I take it you are not br and are running a top of the range motor, because you don't seem to have a life.0 -
Thanks Kepar and others. I do not want to stifle debate but I do not want the cause of this thread to be lost either, particularly as it seems we are on the verge of something with Asda on this matter (and this thread has played a part in discussions with Asda too).
Can I suggest if those who want to debate the merits of Asda petrol start their own thread in the Motoring section, leaving us to talk about the Cashminder cards being used instead? I would hate anyone to be offended by my request but then I do not want this thread to go off about what people think about types of petrol. That's for a Motoring thread.
Thanks in advance.0 -

So you don't think making sure your car runs more efficiently save money then!
Who exactly are you to call me an anorak.
And who are you to question what my BR status is?
My post was a direct reply to a previous post. That was innacurate and misleading.
Any reason why you didn't correct that person?
Isn't this forum basically about saving money?
You need to get a life if you are unable to read the context of my post.0
