Disneyworld advert - not fair...

Everyone is in different circumstances, but an advert is designed to make you want something - so as unfair as it might feel, it's doing it's job.0

Watch out Curlywurli! If your daughter is anything like my nieces she might be upset when she finds out that there is no beach or park at Disney :rotfl:They looks forward to their caravan holidays sooo much!0 -
took my children to Disney World in Florida and it was worth every penny. If you are overstretching yourself to live in an area you cannot afford you will only end up miserable.Barclaycard 3800

We went to Florida the year berfore last, and it is an overgrown theme park, very tacky, but the kids loved it, the rides were out of this world, and well worth the memories for them, obviously i will be paying for it for the next few hundred years, but, memories are good. No point in just living, you need to enjoy it sometimes as well.!0

were off to florida for the third time shortly ... this time it is just hubby and myself so i think it will be less stressful ...
however i remember distinctly asking my son years ago just after we had came back from florida the first time ( and again the second time) what his favourite holiday was .... i was fully expecting the answer to be florida where we had just spent thousands at but his reply came out as .... you know i did love florida but i still prefer it when we go camping ... thats my best holiday ever i get to spend time with you and dad ...he said more but those words stuck with me
we go wild camping out in the hills.... we have no toilet facilities, we sleep on the hard ground, we have a camp fire, go walks in the hills and spend time as a family ... yep my son has the right idea0 -
We are going to Florida in November, son is very excited. He still remembers us going a few years back when he was 3. However he thoroughly enjoyed his holiday to Butlins last year, just as well really as it will be Butlins after this last holiday to Florida, its just to expensive to do on a regular basis.be who you are and say what you feel.

OP, for what its worth my parents could and can afford it and yes, my Disneyworld holidays have been amongst the best memories of my life. Why? Because it was the only time all year that we got to spend time together as a family - my parents were and are workaholics and, although I was extremely well provided for in terms of material things, we spent very little time together unless we were on holiday. I could tell you it doesn't matter to your kids that they won't go to Disneyworld whilst they are kids. Probably they sometimes do wish they could be like the wealthier kids but believe me, the grass is always greener on the other side.
My cousins kids have never been to Florida, money is tight and they have never had a holiday abroad at all and don't have a lot of clothes or expensive possessions. However, they spend so much time together, play card and board games, play guitar together and regularly go camping together where they do all sorts of family activities. They have also learned to save money for things they really want ( the 12 yr old saved for 2 years to buy her own laptop) and they have a better "quality of life" than most "latch key kids" who come home to an empty house and have to heat up their own meal in the microwave. I should know, I was one of those kids. I struggled to communicate because there was no one to talk to. My cousins kids never shut up even with strangers lol!
In the long term, you are doing the best by your kids.0
