Your first post said that the van pulled in front of the bus to make him stop. your letter complains about where the bus stopped. It reads as the driver had no choice.

The bus driver could easily reverse a little or park on the side of the streets on the left or right. He van didn't park right in front of the driver to block him in

I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill. Bus drivers do 12 hour days and before you say anything yes they take breaks but can be on the rd for 4 hours plus at a time, and are under a lot of stress to keep to time, taking abuse from passengers etc etc. Of course some have a bad attitude thats life.

I doubt tht is true, but if it is, it isn't my fault and doesn't mean that I should expect crap attitude from them.

But what are you going to gain by "I am going to report you"

You say you no longer want compo (but you did initially, unbelievably), so I guess you just want the driver to get in to trouble.

I expect a better service. By emailing them, I hope they will start to slowly improve (I doubt so, but worth a try).

And stop acting so high and mighty, no-one is perfect.
A none driver at that, how do they know his standard of driving fell below the standard expected of a competent driver. (excluding the collision)

It's not rocket science. You hit a car = bad driving. You block an entrance to a road = bad driving (possibly illegal, not 100% sure, certainly is a real pain for others and avoidable). Drive past a red light = bad driving and illegal.

    No it's not.

Failing to comply with a red traffic light is an offence.

    Please get your facts right.
  • OP what is it you actually want to achieve by making a complaint?
  • No it's not.

Failing to comply with a red traffic light is an offence.

    Please get your facts right.

Not really much difference, point is your not allowed to do it, full stop.

There's a lot of difference if you want to debate it. You are allowed to pass a red light. The offence is committed if any part of the vehicle crosses the stop line after the light has turned red. If you are already over the stop line you can there for pass the red light.:D
  • Ok a new day and fresh start. I admit I may have been a little rash. I have taken on board the comments and have come up with an email I'm going to send, which hopefully is a little more tasteful:

You might want to check it for typos, I've seen 2 already and I only scanned it.

Same thing happened to me - didn't even think about asking for compensation. Did find it amusing when everyone was told to get off the bus following the accident & they all still said 'Thank you' as they got off. Thanks for what? Crashing? :rotfl:

Reversing a bus full of passengers on busy rd isnt the easiest thing to do with restricted rear vision, ie if a car is right up behind him he wouldnt be able to see it. of course you could of offered your services as a rear observer

I dont know which bit you doubt is true, please tell

I am not high and mighty but I think you are in wanting to report the driver

They are only allowed to drive for nine hours and 10 hours twice a week so should not be on regular 12 days.

Are you sure? that wasnt the case a few years back as PCV drivers are not on tachos and were exempt from EU driving laws, that may well have changed though but I dont think so

I do know that drivers in Norwich do 12 hour days all the time and drive (I think) a max of 4 hours 10 mins at a time
  • If you do report the driver, I hope you realise he would be well within his rights to refuse you travel on any other bus he drives!
