You should try buses round here. I was in A&E the other week and there were about 5 lads sat opposite us who had been on a bus when it crashed. I suspect they were making a fuss about nothing - limping and one insisting on going around in a wheelchair despite getting up and walking fine after being seen - in the hope of a compo claim. They were all sent on their way with cocodamol and ibuprofen.

This is in addition to them seemingly trying to kill me on my bike a few times a week, going through reds and even being on a MOBILE while driving (yes, a handheld mobile whilst driving a double decker) but I digress...
Write a letter of complaint if you're really bothered. Knowing Stagecoach I doubt they'll do anything, but if you're really really bothered there is an independent ombudsman type service for buses you can go to after...
Just be lucky you weren't the poor elderly woman in the Manc Evening News today. Fell over on a bus, broke her neck and died at the scene, because some idiot cyclist cycled across the road (as a pedestrian) without looking and the bus driver had to jam on the anchors.
Oh and they'll know which bus/driver it was if you tell them the time and bus number.0 -
I once was on a bus going to work and to my amazement the bus driver answered his mobile and had a 2 minute chat with someone, while driving the bus!
I got to work ok, journey was fine, no near misses, but I still felt like the driver needed to be warned for using a mobile phone (after it became illegal I might add) while driving around 50 people in a bus.
I wrote to the company (not asking for a refund) to let them know, I told them the time and the route number. My only hope was that if someone else had written in they could take appropriate action.
I got a phone call from the company a week or so later to take more details and sent me a weeks free bus pass for my troubles.
Anyway my point is, report the driver for driving dangerously because its the right thing to do not because you want money for it!0 -
compo compo compo, hey ho lets go get some more compoI

Ok a new day and fresh start. I admit I may have been a little rash. I have taken on board the comments and have come up with an email I'm going to send, which hopefully is a little more tasteful:I am really disappointed in stagecoach. Yesterday, at about 16:30 on ***** Road the driver seemed to have some sort of collision with the rear of the bus and the wing mirror on a van next to the bus. I'm not entirely sure as to who's fault it is ect but I feel the driver could have dealt with the situation better and the apology at the end of it all didn't really seem sincere. It lasted 10 minutes, which added 50% extra time to my travel (although I'm not going to complain so I didn't really lose anything).
Then as we got to the bridge on ******* Road, I noticed the driver went past red lights (temp lights, road works on bridge) although I think the car in front also went through red lights.
When I asked for the drivers name just before I got off, he refused in a very bad attitude. I understand he may have had a 'bad day at the office', but I feel I should have been treated with more respect as a paying customer.
Out of all of this, I feel the bus drivers need better training on situations like these and how to deal with them.
I also noticed that the bus driver left his engine running (until it turned off itself - a money saving feature no doubt) while of the bus talking to the van driver. This isn't helping the environment, especially as most companies are working to become more green.
My last complaint is the fact that the driver stopped the bus at the entrance to another road, making it impossible for other cars to enter of leave that road (drivers wanting to leave had to turn around and find a different route). I'm pretty sure this was illegal and didn't help the situation.
I hope you can resolve the issue's facing the bus driver (it was a ***** bus) and come up with some new training to help them deal with these rare situations.
Yours Faithfully,
A disappointed bus user.Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

Your first post said that the van pulled in front of the bus to make him stop. your letter complains about where the bus stopped. It reads as the driver had no choice.
I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill. Bus drivers do 12 hour days and before you say anything yes they take breaks but can be on the rd for 4 hours plus at a time, and are under a lot of stress to keep to time, taking abuse from passengers etc etc. Of course some have a bad attitude thats life.
But what are you going to gain by "I am going to report you"
You say you no longer want compo (but you did initially, unbelievably), so I guess you just want the driver to get in to trouble.0 -

They are only allowed to drive for nine hours and 10 hours twice a week so should not be on regular 12 days.0
