what exactly is "it" that we're all supposed to be in together?

i'd like to know so that i can decide if i actually think it's true or not.

but borrowing a bit less is not actually the same as paying back is it? at least it wasn't last time i spoke to the bank manager....

plus if your income goes down the swannie cos[STRIKE] you give massive tax breaks to large corporations [/STRIKE]no one is working then that makes it all the more tricky to catch up doesn't it? or have i missed something?

If this is the level of sophisticated political thinking of the average Brit, then I'm afraid most Brits don't deserve democracy.

This kind of thinking - "it's the toffs against us good solid folk, innit, guv, we're the salt of the earth, that's wot we are" - reminds me of the music hall comedians of the 1910s

    It's all very sad.

Sadly it is the thinking of the average and probably the average Brit.

Labour's front bench is full of the privileged and the rich. Labour have their own toffs too.

What matters is the competency of the person not where they came from.

There is a huge difference between spending and investment.

The issue is we cant afford to invest as we are paying back the money we spent on tat we didn't really need, or was spent on things that didn't invest in our future.

Take for example schools. I say invest in the education of the children, not the the school buildings.

Because the slogan "we're all in this together" is untrue.
Recent Tory policies have clearly shown we're not all in this together, by targeting some groups in society particularly hard while leaving others untouched.
When you cut corporation tax while at the same time hiking VAT, don't tell me we're all in this together.
    Furthermore, it's infantile.

Like using smileys in posters for the Big Society.

Cutting corporation tax should help the private sector to improve. Increasing personal allowances also cuts tax for the poorer tax payers in society.

As for being all in it together, I think it is a good slogan - it's making people think it seems, and sums up the awful situation we are in. As for me, like so many people living on a small income, I am suffering from the increased food, fuel, petrol costs, and the general hike in VAT (have had to buy some major house maintenance/replacement things so far this year) has had large impact on my emergency fund. But if it helps the Country get back on track, then so be it.

That's what Cameron means by 'We're all in it together'.

    Very probably.

Well not taking at face value everything you are spoon fed by the Labour Party, or for that matter any other political party, is a good place to start.
