Called using Calling card but Vodafone charged me international calls

Options
Hello All
I have been using chillitalk calling card to call overseas for over a year. However, in the last 5 days, the calls have been billed on my Vodafone account as direct calls and not via the calling card. Its the usual procedure, i call the access number, the pin is saved i get a read out of the balance and i dial the number. However, this has gone on my account as a direct call. I had a call from vodafone saying the bill had run upto 700 and were calling to collect payment.

Is there anything i can do at all? The calling card company does not answer on the help line at all.

Thanks in advance

  • What number are you dialling to reach the calling card company?

It is very unusual for numbers dialled via calling cards to be billed directly, but not unusual for networks to block or elevate costs to call the calling card number.

Check the calls history in your mobile and try using it as an evidence.

As far as I know, Vodafone do not and never have supported calling cards.

What do you mean by 'supported'?
    You don't need any 'support' to call 0207, 0161, 0141, 0121, 0113.

the question is whether or not vodafone support callign card companies.
the contract terms state that the calls starting with the nos 01,02,03 are inclusive in the contract. having said that, if a call is longer than 59 minutes, vodafone will charge you even if you have unlimited landlines to cover the duration.
I am assuming you're using one of the landline nos to call.
check your bill pay attention to the number you had called and duration.
    hope this helps.
  • yea i called using a calling card access that is 0207 xxxx number that is a part of my minutes. all calls are under the 1 hour limit.
i use a windows mobile handset and it does not log out going calls properly

what vodafone says is that if the call is dropped by the calling card, they pick the call up automatically making it a long distance call. did nto understand what it meant or even if they understood what happend.
  • they also claim that the call is directly to the number in india. not the calling calling card access number.

are you sure after entering the india no, you are not accidentally hitting the call key? if the call is to the indian no this should be the case.

Even though the number you'd be dialling is an 020 number it wouldn't be included in your inclusive minutes as per the terms and conditions:-

....Calls to call forwarding services, onward calling services and calls to numbers that pay a revenue share are not eligible for your inclusive minutes even if they use numbers that would normally be included....

Ann these terms are referring to 0782 and 07972 series range which were the forwarding services.

for that matter most of the calls to landline series are forwarded to one number or other. for example if you call a bank that has a landline number, calls to that numebr are forwarded on to other landline nos and vodafone does not charge you for that.

tehre are some blacklisted range of series like 0782 or 07974 etc which were very popular for call forwarding 3-4yrs ago nad the terms and conditions you quoted above refer to tackle this not the landline range.
