Lorrys are parking right outside my front window

So seriously as I asked earlier, truck drivers get paid for all the breaks, paid over lunch, paid for rest stops?
All they don't get paid for in a working day is the 9 hour overnight stops, or the 11 hour ones?
You got paid for an 86 hour week, every week? That's a good earner.
All the rest of us that take breaks have them unpaid, not as part of the working day.
However many lorry drivers take their break whilst getting loaded or unloaded.
And I bet you don't spend up to 5 nights a week away from home living in a 8x6 box with little access to washing, toilets and hot food.0 -

Got any proof to back up that libellous claim?0 -
mrbadexample wrote: »A 24 hour day is not the same as a driving period. A new driving period starts after you've taken a daily rest, so if you worked 8 hours, then took 9 off, you've only used 17 of the 24, but are starting a new driving period. Keep doing that all week and you can get 7 in.
Weekly rest periods
A driver must start a weekly rest period no later than at the end of six consecutive 24-hour periods from
the end of the last weekly rest period
Demonstrate a full working week with times shown with 8hrs driving in a driving period which will bring you up to the maximum 56 for a week0 -
Like the Hammy said, it's not good when the lorry six inches from your back bumper realises he can't stop as fast as you.
IME, they're only 6 inches behind because some moron has pulled out from a sliproad into the distance you've left from the vehicle ahead and want to leave themselves plenty of distance from the vehicle that was in front of you.
In short, its nobs in cars on the whole who seem to think that 44 tonne wagons can stop in the same distance as them.0 -

For the Overnights you'd usually get night allowance for that which varies...IRC its tax free aswell?... £25 a night last 2 driving jobs I had... Although out of that was to come so called "Secure" parking.. which you got a meal voucher for and use of showers etc usually... Rest was yours.
I've never paid for my parking other than forking it out on the day and being re-imbursed in the following weeks wages.
And I've never been close to NMW either even if you broke down what was earned over the entire duty period with no paid breaks.
You must have worked for a right !!!!! outfit.0 -

Probably you did, it explains a lot.
Most others slept in their cabs though.0 -

i think what he is trying to say is that if you worked out the hours you spend in your truck, including rests, breaks and overnight sleep then its very close to the nmw.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

This?
How many HGV drivers crash compared to car drivers?
There is a good reason for that, but i'm sure anyone with a brain could work it outIf Adam and Eve were created first

Was probably a car driver that caused it tbh :rotfl:
Vast majority of lorry drivers I come across live up to their professional status - a few don't but they're in the minority.0 -

You're probably not far off kilty
Also have you ever watched a car driver trying to reverse park a caravan or trailer? (forward back, left hand down, forward again, right hand down, crunch 1st looking for reverse, back again, forwards, all the way back out again etc etc) - Absolutley hilarious
Now a hgv driver reversing is impressive, and he 9/10 times goes in first timeIf Adam and Eve were created first
