Just in the early spring I buy daffodils, they cheer me up.
Occasionally my DD's will buy me flowers, usually lilies, they know I love them.0 -
I had money for my birthday today so treated myself to tulips from Aldi.0

Especially at this time of the year, I love to buy a bunch of daffodils for usually less than £1. In the house they would not last long, so I put them in an earthenware pot so I can see them out of my kitchen window. They last weeks out there and I love to see that bright splash of colour in the garden.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0

Love fresh flowers, restrict myself to buying a couple of bunches from Aldi or Lidl about once a month now, splitting them between cemetry and home so we are sharing them. Also means if someone else has put some in the cemetry, I will take a few extra home.
I've lived on toast rather than skip the flowers completely and I don't regret that one bit.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Since doing a budget with You Need A Budget and starting to meal plan and shop wisely I have saved hundreds of pounds per month but I love fresh flowers in the house and decided to treat myself to an annual subscription with Bloom & Wild - I get a beautiful bouquet from them each month for £15 and it usually lasts for three weeks. I have cut the amount I spend on groceries, on alcohol, on eating out and takeaway meals but my flowers make me feel so happy!0

This time of the year, when daffodils are readily available in the shops, my wife buys a bunch weekly from Sainsburys (£1.20 this year). It is a small expense to brighten up the kitchen. Left to my own devices though I probably would not bother. Mind you, it's a personal view but some of them are not too clever perfume-wise ...

My alstoemeria are already coming up in the garden and on the allotment. Add to that a heady mix of carnations, dahlias and roses galore and I`ll have flowers for the house all through to late autumn. In the meantime I have been given two kalanchoe flowering plants, one pink and the other red. They are succulents and hardly need water, flowers are lovely, like mini roses and they have bloomed constantly. Today is their first watering in 5 weeks
I love narcissus rather than daffodils, I find the commercially sold daffodils have such an overpowering smell0 -
I buy flowers most Friday mornings from my local Country Market (Stroud) - lovely fresh bunches from the suppliers' own gardens.
Even at this time of year there is something to buy - little posies of snowdrops or primroses for just a pound or so. Later on sweet peas, cosmos and all sorts of interesting bunches of beautiful home grown flowers. They haven't been treated with chemicals so they don't always last as long ( or cost as much!) as the supermarket bunches - but the pleasure they give me is beyond words. I don't feel guilty at all for spending money on my little treat.0 -
Cut flowers are the ultimate supermarket unnecessary luxury and I used to buy them now and again when I was earning.
Now I am retired I buy flowers only when I can get a 'bang for your buck' bargain. When the gladioli are in season you can get a massively impressive bunch in Tesco's for £1.50 which look amazing in a lily vase. At the moment daffodils are £1 a bunch which is an irresistible burst of sunshine to lighten a gloomy winter's day. Lilies are more expensive but a fivers' worth lasts a very long time and are a great occasional treat.
My DH bought me an M&S bunch of roses (with free Prosecco) for Valentine's Day which lasted a week and were magnificent. I felt like a duchess.0
