I was asked for ID for my 14 year-old daughter (in her uniform) when I was buying wine. The cashier didn't get that I wasn't trying to pretend she was over 18!0

I'M THIRTY SODDING SIX FOR CHRISTS SAKE!!!!!!!!
I'm also bald as a cue ball!
Couldn't believe it, I honestly thought she was joking.
Anyway, I handed over my ID and ahe said she had to check everyone who looked under 25, I'm closer to 40 than I am to 25!
...you sound well hot!0 -
I get ID'd quite a bit because I look about 15, but I was suprised to get ID'd for rizla in poundland... I asked what he does if someone tries to buy post-it notes, afterall their both paper with a sticky strip. I don't mind getting ID'd though I'd feel horrible if someone lost their job because of me!0

I was asked for I.D just a couple of weeks ago. I was on a night out for my 30th birthday!
Was also asked for I.D in Asda last summer. We were going on a family picnic and had forgotten cutlery so went to buy some plastic forks, spoons and knifes and got asked for I.D LOL! I wouldn't mind but the knifes were worse than useless and broke when I tried to cut a tomato...0 -
Wow, the last time I was ID was 3 or 4 years ago. But I grew a goatee and grew out my hair and now when I buy booze with my other student friends and they all get ID'd and I don't or when we go to a club and the bouncers practically ID everyone on the door I don't (usually with a remark like "Theres no way you're under 18 mate").
So if your male, grow a beard and grow out your hair.0 -
When you go and work for a supermarket do you get training in how to guess someone's age? If so the training may need to be revised. Maybe cut them in half and look at the rings.
There was a story some while ago about an 81 year old American being refused service in a bar in an airport terminal somewhere in the states unless he produced ID to show he was over 21.0 -
Growing a beard doesn't help. My 27 year old son has a goatee and he's often refused alcohol or tobacco because he doesn't have ID.There was a story some while ago about an 81 year old American being refused service in a bar in an airport terminal somewhere in the states unless he produced ID to show he was over 21.
I believe in the US that it's a requirement when buying alcohol to show ID despite how old you look. When hubby and I were there (him in his 30's and me 40's) we had to show ID.0 -
I went to see a band the other night with my lad, got to the door and was asked for ID. Slightly amused I pointed out I was 37, and though I agreed I looked a little younger 18 was a stretch. "Policy" replies the doorman. I had no ID on me (not top of my to carry list anymore!) but was allowed in.
The next window was handing out wristbands red for no alcohol, green for alcohol. Despite my protests that I was obviously over the age of 18 they still refused to green band me.
I'd intended to have a few drinks in there, but ended up with a can of pepsi that lasted me all night because I was determined not to buy another
I understand policy, I appreciate its a club and full of underagers but lets be honest here, there is no way in the world I look remotely under 21.0 -

This happened to me once, i was in Tesco and my son had met me in there in his uniform we are going back 4 years ago so son would have been 12 and the cashier asked for id.She said it was incase I was buying it for my son and his friends whom I hasten to add wasn't even there at the time. After I had got up off the floor from shock i produced my passport and all was well, but I did happen to say to the cashier that if i was buying it for them then surely I would have just handed it over to them outside the shop not in the shop. She went red through embarressment and mumbled it was store policy that if someone had a child with them whilst buying alcohol then id had to be produced.I will say though that I was in there another time and an elderly gentleman was in there with i presume was his granddaughter and he too was asked for id as the girl was about 14 maybe.Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -
I rarely get id', im 25 and my friend who is 2 months younger than me gets id for everything!
when she buys cigarettes, pubs clubs everything. She'll get id at the entrance of a pub then at the bar they'll id her again and stand agast that she's 25.
jammy cow......
If im buying a bottle of wine and my 5 year old is with me ive never had a problem, likewise if im with one of my younger brothers who are 14, 18 and 22 who look really young!
We stopped at an asda a few years back on the way to a girlie weekend and bought wine etc at 9am...the cashier was totally speechless that we were buying alcohol so early on a saturday morning and had great pleasure iding' us all.0
