nhs nurse-suprisingly enough (sarcastically said)- we get nothing at all.

If we go on a ward night out etc-its all self paid.

(am sure the executive directors etc probably wangle at least a meal/drinks out, but who are we to quibble)
Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞

  • Hmmmm........some generous employers out there!

I get to take xmas off (comes out of my leave allowance, but at least I can take it off), and we have an xmas party, with drinks and food - no partners though, and we have to pay for accomodation.

I don't get anything else - maybe something from one of our clients, but my industry has very strict rules on receiving gifts from a corporate point of view, so would be "under the radar" :o

where do you people work who get ££££ for xmas bonus?!?!

I shouldnt complain - my company's more generous than where I used to work! my partner and I work at the same place so xmas parties where you can't bring your partner are no problem for us! we have a big company do and each dept also has a small meal somewhere... we normally end up with about 10 bottles of wine, 2 bottles of port and 2 bottles of spirits so xmas booze in house is normally covered:D  ! have to take 3 days out of annual leave for xmas week which is just as well with all that alcohol! dont get cash bonus as such - I get commission in my position and OH gets 1/4 bonuses through the year so cant grumble
I feel sorry for you guys who get nothing (especially those who work for NHS - Tony Blair can't afford to give you guys have a pay rise but he can afford to give Pakistan £3billion...  different subject I know but it winds me up so much!)
xmas is 5 weeks today!!!! :xmassign: :santa2: :rudolf: :xmastree:
  • Absolutely nothing. I work for the NHS - we even have to pay for or our own Christmas Do and we have to bring food in if we're working Christmas Day (which I am again this year for the 4th time in a row). And no double time either *sob*

I get nothing, zilch, nowt:eek: To cap it all, the firm where I work as a temp, is closed over the period between Christmas and New Year, so I don't receive any wages either:mad:

Likewise! Although the office is open between Christmas and New Year. However we do get a free Christmas meal. Don't get freebies from subcontractors any more (presents=possible bribes) no alcohol (healthy living zero tolerance!) and the Dinner dance is subsidised but still expensive.

Fortunately, EU regulations mean that my agency has to allow me paid leave and I've been saving it up! Two weeks (paid) off for me WOO HOO! :j

Both hubby and I work for NHS so nowt there plus the pleasure of providing a 24/7 service as do all the other emergency services for the rest of the public with barely an acknowledgement that we exist.
Are those shopping bags you're carrying really bags of debt???

No bonus here either, but the office is closed from the 20th to the 2nd, so we do get a long (paid) holiday. There's a company party, and a team christmas lunch and gallery visit (also paid for by the company). We sometimes get a hamper or some bottles of wine from the suppliers we use, which is a nice treat. But...what I wouldn't do for a bonus!
    2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j
  • I work for the NHS and this year I've been given 3.5 hours shopping leave. My ward manager always gives us a bottle of wine or a box of chocs (from his pocket), and we get loads of chocs from the WRVS. Also if you work xmas day, boxing day or new year, your catered for and get a meal (although you may not get time to eat it!). Although this is in the mental health/learning disabilities field. My Dad works for an established firm of builders here in the south east and his boss a tight !!!! has a canny ruse to save money. Every year the firm have a christmas party at the bosses local village pub if you attend the said party he docks you half a days pay (thus covering the drinks bill) partners are not allowed, so my Dad always chooses to work.

£125 Christmas bonus (after working there for 5 years)
Free Christmas lunch with a free raffle and Shloer to drink, (conveniently always on special offer at xmas)
    Subsidised Christmas Party
    Heavily subsidised children's party
A box of chocolate and a bottle of wine in a nice gift bag you can reuse for someone else.

Working for the council I get:
