Hi Everyone,
Swinstie - Well done for persevering with JA, you might find yourself using sentences of about 30 words when only 3 are required!
As for flying through my list, I'm sure I'll slow up. I just seem to have to opportunity to read more lately when the kids are in bed and OH is glued to footie :rotfl:
jwill - welcome, jump aboard! You've given me hope in finding a Z book, is Stefan Zweig worth a look at? :j
Finished Tess Gerritson and just started Shaun Hutsons "Unmarked Graves". Its marked as a horror to beat all horrors! Might be leaving the landing light on for a few nights and jumping onto the bed from about 6ft away!
Happy reading all,

Hi all,
I finished Agatha Raisin and the curious curate, I love Agatha, there is a bit of her in me I think, (although I'm much younger)
I have finished today The mystery of the 39 cufflinks by James Anderson, I really loved this book!
Am moving on to The Supper Club by Sophie King, I know my alaphabet is out of sync but I need to take it back to the library on Thursday, when I can get my C and D books. Although my William James book, The varieties of religious experience, has arrived from Amazon, but the text is a bit small and it looks a bit of a tome, and I'm having a bigger text, chick lit type moment!
Lala you are flying through the alphabet, perhaps you could read 2 of each letter! This thread is subconsciously giving me an excuse to ignore the mending pile that has been sitting there for a few weeks looking at me, so I can read instead. You are brave, I am not keen on horror books, I do like Stephen King though, but end up having to have all the lights on and OH things I am going mad!0 -
The Stefan Zweig book was very good, so yes it's worth a read (very short too!). Not the most cheery book I've ever read though.
I spent some time the other day going through my books to see what I had. I've got one for every letter of the alphabet except for X. So I shall list them and post them on here. I then went hunting on amazon to see if I could find any X authors and I have now, so I just have to see if there's anything there I fancy reading."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -
Hi folks
I've finished the Shaun Hutson book (Unmarked Graves).
Really SCARY! I found myself trying to shout a warning to the characters in the blooming book! Highly recommended if you want to scare yourselves witless!!
Next up is Greg Isles - True Evil. Sounds like a horror but it appears to be more of a thriller judging by the synopsis. Its also the size of War and Peace so will take me a while I think. DD has got singing later (another phase ) that gives me a chance to read while I'm waiting for her. Think I might have a reputation of being a bit unsociable amongst parents when I wait anywhere for the kids because I stick my nose straight into a book. Oh dear!
Wow Sweetpea the title of the William James book tells me that it will need some concentration! I'd love to know a bit more about it. I'll work on an excuse for you to continue to avoid your mending pile.
Jwil well done having all the books you need for the challenge (bar one)! Do you have your Q and U books?
Happy reading

Yes, I do. I'll type out my books here now and cross them off as I finish them.

Finished my A book - quite enjoyed it, though it took me a while to get into. Started on my B book. I thought it was autobiography but it's fiction. It's ok, but not really my thing. I'll finish it though!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -

Have chosen some of my books and will add the rest as and when, have picked some that I feel I ought to have read, and others that are a treat to me.
Still reading The Count of Monet Cristo, when I picked it off the Big Read list I didn't know it's over 1100 pages long:rotfl:, and it took me a while to get into it but am quite enjoying it now, but will still take me a good week or more from now to finish.0 -
Didn't know that this challenge was around until I read about it in someone's diary - sorry can't remember who it belonged to. I would love to join in. My reading for fun is somewhat limited as I'm reading for my MA. With Easter coming up I should get chance to catch up though. I have butterfly ideas about how to sort my list. I fancy reading some of those books that I feel are a should read before I die type like a Dickens, together with some children's books to keep me in touch as I'm a teacher and I will probably count some of the less heavy MA texts. My ideas so far are:
Atkinson Kate, Started Early, Took my Dog - just read
Boaler Jo, The Elephant in the Classroom - ongoing text
C
Dickens, ?
