£15 Xmas Holiday Travelodge Sale

14 November 2006

What's the deal?

Budget hotel chain Travelodge is offering a large number of Supersaver rooms in all its hotels at £15 per room over Christmas. Usually these rooms retail up to £80 but this is reportedly part of a price war it is having with Premier, so take advantage.

Travelodge rooms are clean and functional, and do the job, so they're great if you're looking to tour the UK over the Xmas hols. This is about the eight 'travelodge deal' that MoneySavers have jammed in and there's usually extremely good feedback from those who've taken part, though there are some concerns that it has a deliberate 'overbooking' policy, but most MoneySavers dont report problems (read below for lots of feedback)

What you need to do

Use Travelodge's room search to find a hotel and date available.

Are there any conditions?

Yes, a few. The offer's only available online, for supersaver rooms, which must be booked at least 21 days in advance of the day you want to stay. Rooms can be booked to stay any date from 17 December to 21 January but you'll need to book by 26 November. You'll have to pay in advance and the room's not transferable or refundable once you've booked so think carefully first whether you really want the room.

Sadly the offer isn't available in the Republic of Ireland, Spain or in its franchises (Newport Magor, Bolton West M61 Southbound and Glasgow Airport).

Also I talked about this as part of my Muttering Commentary in this week's e-mail - here's a clip of it: Travelodge Muttering

Hiya - Watchdog did a bit on their prog last week as Travelodge appear to overbook their hotels then its a case of first come first served.

Please check out watchdog site for the full story though as a precaution.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I don't thinkk this offer runs out in January. I have booked 2 nights in mid February for £15 a night, and there seemed to be £15 rooms going right into July.

    Hope this helps.
  • Just had 3 superb nights in peterborough, brand new hotel, friendly staff.....................£15 a night. Great break!
  • Not all "Supersavers" are £15. Christmas Day at Bath Central is £49, a saving of £16 off normal tariff.

I thought "Supersaver" was £15 and "Savers" were between £26 and full price.

    This is the secret message.
  • I have booked a flexible saver room, which means I can cancel it, for £15 in Hereford on 26th December. I think this is because its a new hotel, due to open on 20th December.
  • Have booked for Heston for 20th December. Great because we have to be at Heathrow for 8am the next morning for a flight. We were going to get up very early and go but for £15 we will arrive refreshed. Works out to £5 each!!!!

    Thank you MSE.

  • We are going to a concert at wembley in January, then leaving for holiday from Gatwick at 6am the next morning. We were going to just try and get a couple of hours sleep in some chairs in the departures lounge, but thanks to this deal I've just booked, we'll actually get a few hours in a proper bed! Thank you!!!
  • I wouldn't book with Travellodge now on general principle after watching Watchdog. If they think so little of their customers that they knowingly overbook rooms and then turn people away then I wouldn't risk booking with them, or even want to. The last thing you want after a long stessful journey is to find that the room you've booked isn't available! Terrible customer service.
SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"
  • We pre-booked (and pre-paid for) a non-refundable room in a central city location. Due to traffic hold-ups we arrived late (0020 hrs) with our two young children and after a wait we were advised that our room had been given away. Eventually we were sent to another location outside the city.
Other family members actually had a similar experience even after checking in !! After their evening out their key card would not get them into their room as the room had been given to other guests, apparently much to the amusement of the staff.

My advice would be to 'get there early' and leave something in the room to show it's occupied ......... or book with an operator which does not show such complete disregard for their customers !!
