i know this might feel like cavingin
but the man next door was telling me he put a cat lit tray out and they used that at least it saved his plants0 -
We have the same problem we have tried loads of things. We have just built a pond and the cats rather than taking an instant dislike to the water are now using it as cat meeting place :-/ and the rock garden as a cat cr&pper!
Its so frustrating - our garden stinks of cat poop!
I am sorry all you cat owners but you don't have the problem because your cat is pooing in our garden.
A recent tip is to soak teabags in olbas oil and leave them round the garden.
I will give that a go.
Don't waste your money on these sprays you can buy - complete waste of time.:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -
I have a Great Dane. Very large and just as friendly... even to cats. BUT because she's a dog I am with her when she toilets and have to pick it up or be fined £1000 (I'd pick it up anyway but it's a deterrant).
My neighbour has 3 cats. Of course they like to poop in my kids sandbox. After trying everything else I told the neighbour that I'll do an exchange - for every cat one I have to remove I'll throw a Dane one over the fence (they're roughly the size of a small cat) Don't know how she's done it but the cats haven't been back since!
If I can find the magic answer I'll let you all know but otherwise I'll happily bag up my Dane Pooh for you to threaten the cat owners with :-1 -
Here is a remedy that is free, Human urine (preferably male).
Actually thats not a bad idea, instead of throwing a jug of water over it next time I'll give it a taste of it's own medicine(well ammonia at least)
Just hope the Mrs won't mind me keeping a jug of !!!!!! handy!0 -
ROFL! Just read that vinegar sprayed around the area puts cats off but no idea how much or how often... Tiger or lion poo if you can get it from the zoo will keep them away but then you have a lion poo instead of a moggy one!0

LOL at SGCat repellant
well the cats enjoyed their time in your garden you might as well have some enjoyment as well.
Best suggestion so far i think ;D0 -
Water pistols are fun but I cannot stay up all day and night just to keep them away.
I've been planning to make something automatic, along these lines, but haven't got round to it yet. A PIR intruder detector and an old water valve from a washing machine should do the trick.0 -
I might try getting the old man to pee in different parts of the garden, no where near the fruit trees and rhubarb i might add.
I had better get him to do it during the night, if i leave the security lighting on i might give the neighbours a cheap thrill.
I have tried allsorts to stop the neighbours cats using my garden as a toilet, and leaving presents but nothing has worked. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Don't know how much truth is in it but I've heard/read that cats hate the smell of naphthalene/mothballs.
Shouldn't be too expensive an experiment0
