Cat 'repellent'

OK I've had enough of having to pay for someone else to have the privilege of 'having the company' of their cat for the 5 minutes a day it isn't sleeping or sh*&%ing on my lawn.

I've tried all the usual stuff like orange rinds, pepper etc, the expensive things from B&Q i.e. Scataway, the MOD stuff i.e. landmines but nothing will stop the little git.

So anyone any suggestions for more permanent repellants (did someone mention wharfarin or something similar?)? I have a sack and some bricks ready for when it's caught and I know the quickest way to the local pier. I just don't see why I should pay both financially (and also for risk of having cat !!!!!! all over my lawn where we have kids playing, or would like to have kids playing on) for someone elses indulgence.

use a water spray to deter it or get your own cat.

you know it knows don't you?

it's doing it because it is totally winding you up.

just thought i'd point that out.

you could go out and try making a fuss of it, then it'll stop crapping in your garden, cos they don't like to !!!!!! on their own doorstep.

well, you could buy a rottweiller

    or

I dont know if this works but I know people who swear by it

place bottles of water around the garden

apparently this puts them right off

just plastic bottles with the tops on

    worth a try isnt it

I dont mind cats in the garden they keep the mice and rats away

    I feel your pain.

What I do is throw the cat c$£p into the gradens of neighbours who have cats.

This means that at least cat owners have to experience cat c$£p in their gardens and hopefully causes cat fights as cats find c$£p from other cats in their territory. ;D

    Hello Woby_Tide

Like you, I also prefer not to welcome cats into the garden..........we encourage wild birds to eat, drink and bathe and cats are dedicated assassins.

If you have a totally enclosed garden, the following tip may help you, if you have a open entrance/path into the garden it won't.

For a totally walled/fenced garden, attach some chicken wire (as a sort of hooped tunnel type) onto the top of the wall or fence where the cats enter your garden.

They will happily walk and run along brick walls and fencing but aren't so happy to balance on chicken wire that gives under their weight.

I used to have the delightful pleasure of living next door to a cat lover, he had around 8 cats! All the cats left his garden crap free and smelling of parma violets. ;D

Our garden smelled of crap and looked just as good. >:( The neighbour acknowledged that his cats used our garden as a toilet and advised us to put chicken wire on the fence. It worked for us, the buggers moved to pastures new.

    partial success

I spotted the !!!!!! in the back garden last night peering round back of garage, managed to get right up close before unleashing bucket of water, hopefully it'll remember ;)

I also know where it lives now as I wasn't sure which of the local cats was the one that liked my lawns, at least I know where to post it's 'belongings" ;D

Have tried the cat repellents but the cats just find the tiniest of spots I have not put it on and use that!

Water pistols are fun but I cannot stay up all day and night just to keep them away.

I guess like me you will have to put up with it or buy a tiger!

Here is a remedy that is free, Human urine (preferably male). Cats mark their territory so you will have to do the same. Sprinkle it around the area the cat comes in, It should do the trick.

The only snag is you have to put it into a container in order to distribute it or the neighbours might complain about a flasher.
