Natty I've had varifocals for 3 years now, the ones I'm picking up Thursday are just an updated (stronger) prescription. I was advised to get used to them gradually when I first had them, wearing for an hour the first day, 2 the second and so on, and going back to my other specs in between. But in fact I found no problems getting used to them, and was wearing them the whole time after just 3 days. I think they err on the side of caution, because some wearers do take a bit longer to get used to them.

Thanks for that LW, although I must admit I'm not quite sure if I am using them right..I am just using them like normal glasses, although I do tend to look down to read anything. Oooh saying that I have just been playing around with them while watching t.v. and I can actually tell a difference if I look through them normally or look out the bottom of them (more blurry!) I did get the more expensive style of varifocal rather than the cheaper version, this one does have a bigger lense and all over cover - I thought if I need them all the time I need something that I can get on with..and DH was paying..lol I also can't believe how clearer everything is, even the computer.. And I don't have to take my glasses off to read or do the sewing now..so am not straining my eyes. It's also nice that I don't have to have a book/mag/sewing practically under my chin to do anything :)

Happy Birthday Vanilla, hope you are having a reasonable day. Hopefully things won't be too bad when the !!!!! hits the fan re DH. If you need to talk give me a shout, having spending problems myself and hopefully getting them sorted this year with help..plus having the hiding/depression/BP and Borderline Personality I kind of understand what your DH is doing. Although in some respect it isn't very nice for you, and believe me I put my DH through hell and still do sometimes. But I am here if you need to reach out..

Well as a few of you who are on Fb probably know I have done sweet f.a. but I am getting a bit of a spurt on and will be doing a few bits later on..plus I need to pop to Asda to pick something special up for DH as we are having a belated valentines meal tonight.. Sorry Toots I didn't manage to get dressed before midday, more like before 3pm..lol.

Hugs and spoons to everyone, especially Toots and LL :)

  • Gah! That was horrible. I am never ever cleaning out the oven ever ever again even if it is at level one.
I should have known that while 99% of the population can, without difficulty, clean an oven, only I will find mine is leaking gikky brown corrosive  gunk all over the floor. Only I would get paranoid about it and start cleaning it off just an hour after it was put on, and only I would then obsess about breathing corrosive fumes/ waste product going down the sink/onto food areas/etc etc etc.
Would someone please kick my bum and tell me I'm being stupid, and also tell me how to avoid all that in the future- short of not using my oven?

OMG! I had a sharp intake of breath when I read that. I know he has his problems but bl@@dy hell, i haven't really got the words, I'm gobsmacked he's done that to you.
Thats an addicition for ya. He's promised to get me something later next week but what gets me is he thought so little off me in the first place that he spent his money the way he did.
Vanilla - feel so sorry for you but have no advice as I know nothing of addiction. I hope you can get the support that you need and that the kids are being kept as protected from all this as possible.
Kids are always well protected and i usual know when something isn't right. He's been told already that if he relapses at all i'll sign him in straight away. I see it happening sooner rather than later, i just looked on his ebay account and he looking at one of them stupid masks. Think i'll be taking all his money off him, for his own good.
more bucketfuls of (((hugs))) for you angel yo certainly deserve them - I would agree about talking to his CPN - if his addiction gets started again you need help and maybe someone can nip it in the bud before it gets a grip again.
What about a HUGE GINORMOUS IOU for your birthday - make a list of jobs you need doing and he does them by way of an apology!!!! It wont cost him any money but will cost him time which is what he should be giving you - maybe make him forgo one of his trips away?
He did help with the back garden yesterday but has done nothing since. He's getting it easy today because my sister and BIL is here but there going home at 4 (they have no heating in there house) so i'll have a very long chat with him this evening. He's over come this so many times before and if i had of been with him on saturday it wouldn't have happened but i have to be able to have him go out by himself and be able to say no. The lies got me the most because i knew he was still holding stuff back. Even when i told him to be honest. He still lied but he gets caught in the lies and can't remember what he said but i do. :(

Shysarah i may take you up on the offer as i've told hubby before about the 12 steps but he wouldn't go. A friend of mine, her OH done it and is off everything, drugs and even meds and smoking.

My snooze is decluttered and i feel loads better for it. Kids are heading to the cinema tonight with there granny so need them ready by 7, gonna go and leave sister home now and prepare myself for a long night. I NEED to have things sorted tonight.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

Good idea. She always talks sense :D
My only advice to ANY situation, is play the tape to the end. What i mean is think what the end result might be? Having said that, there are boundaries, and it is where YOUR boundaries are and no-one elses. Not sure if that makes sense 'on screen'?

    Happy Birthday Vanilla
Sorry DH has relapsed. You need to look after yourself and your kids.

Greenbee - I used your line today at work. Delivered it with a straight face and then howled laughing when I got round the corner. thanks for that one. :D

Came home to 2 piles of cat sick which are now cleaned up. Just having a coffee then will do some flying.

Also came home to another bouquet of flowers!
DH complained about the bouquet i got on friday, said it wasn't up to their usual standard. He then bought me more flowers yesterday as an apology. today the flower company have sent another bouquet as an apology! Need to go and see if I have another vase? Funny thing is I thought they looked ok. Heck what would I know :rotfl:

Wow! I disappear for a morning and so many things kick off.

Jinky - hello stranger! Nice to have you back again

Vanilla - Wishing you a Happy Birthday sweetheart. You don't deserve this !!!!!!, you're such a happy flylady, I can understand how this must have knocked you sideways. Massive Hugs and coping vibes.

    Thrifty - Happy Birthday

Pigpen - I'd be so very hurt and would explode immediately. I admire you for thinking it through first. AnW's comment was very wise words. It's very destructive behaviour. Is it tied up with his annoyance about the childcare issue's with KH and visiting his parents? Pretty extreme retaliation.

My hand consultant has the vomitting bug so I've been pushed back to Thursday. DH can't take me and it's 5.45 - the worst possible time. DS1 is off college feeling poorly. He asked me if he had a temperature and I had to stand on tiptoes to reach his forehead:rotfl::rotfl:6ft 1 inch and he's still getting taller

Having a bad day, feeling really down and I really don't feel like doing anything. Lunch was a disaster, got my 1 hour of quiet to sort out dinner and still haven't laid the carpet.
Taking one day at a time....I'll get there in the end
