Though you have to remember that office 2007 introduces new file types (.docx for example) which cannot be opened by older versions of office.
There is a free Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats that enables Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003 to open, edit, and save files using the file formats in the newer Office 2007/2010 versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Oh ok then looks like Pro, it will try and install Outlook (the real deal) but it should not as far as I remember (mind you I can't remember yesterday) upset OE. How long ago did you get it (2007) cos 2010 has been out a while now? Not important really cos there are still the helpful folks here to help out if you get stuck. BTW if you have created a lot of DOC's and Spreadsheets using Openoffice you can also read them in MS Office, but if you have probs then open then in OO and save them again as MS Office DOCs/XLS format. Hope you are still getting on well with your new (well nearly new system).

Don't , you don't need to uninstall, plus if Outlook is going to behave itself as it should it should import your OE stuff automatically.

  • Also keep OO until you are happy with the use of MS Office, they can life together quite happily it's just a question of which one is set to open various files as default, and your new MS will set itself to open all (except the odf ones)

  • MS Office is a suite of different programs, Word (word processor), Excel (spreadsheets). Powerpoint (presentations), Outlook (email), Access (databases) and a few more.

You've somehow opened Access. Just close it.
