installing ms office 2007

hiya

i'm about to install ms office 2007 but before i do i have openoffice & outlook express 6 installed

do i need to do anything with those before i put the ms cd in?

No you don't.

The only thing that would change is the default program for certain file types (.doc .xls etc.)

You can use both simultaneously.

Though you have to remember that office 2007 introduces new file types (.docx for example) which cannot be opened by older versions of office.

ok thanks i don't want to use both now i have ms 2007 i want to use just that so do i have to do anything with oe 6 and openoffice before i uninstall them?

No you don't need to do anything.

But Outlook Express is for email, why would you be uninstalling it?

i thought ms office 2007 had oe pre installed

MS Office includes Outlook which is better than OE.

Hello bare unless it's Office pro then it won't have Outlook nor Outlook Express, did you not have Thunderbird ? or was that another thing I got confused on. Anyway no you don't to uninstall either .

And no if you do have Outlook just set it up to point at your old email address , we han help if stuck ....R
