Can someone please advise me. I sent my letter dated 7th May telling Alliance & Leicester that I will take them to court if i don't have a reply within 14 days from date of letter, today i have recieved a letter back saying they are looking into the matter and will send me a response within the next 28 days. Do I start court proceedings on 21st May (14 days from date of my letter) or do i wait 28 days?

    Hi All,

    Who's up first?

It might be an idea for some of us to go and watch the proceedings from the public gallery to see whats what?

    Any thoughts on this?

I'm in leicester any one due up in court near me soon?

    Sixx

When's your hearing then sixxdog? Good luck if you have to attend!

Didn't think there was a public gallery ... isn't it just an office type room for small claims in the county court?
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS

What you have received is just an acknowledgement, not a reply.

If you get no reply in 14 days from the date of your letter (or a "no" reply in the meantime), visit the MCOL website. You set the timescales - its your claim, not theirs!

So I do start court proceeding then on the 21st???? Sorry for being thick!!

    Hi Mimi,

Hehehe who knows , i would have thought that a member of the public would have a right to view proceedings though , I'll ring the court and ask in the morning.

Not got a court date as yet, but i spoke to Leicester County Court today and they told me they were organising some special sessions to deal with bulk loads of these cases in a matter of weeks hopefully , but again I'll know more tomorrow.

Hopefully I wont have to attend as I'm currently in negotiations with the brief working for the A&L , so if I get a decent offer I'll b-ugger off on holiday :)

LOL , i might even have time to post a quick "GOT SETTLED IM OFF" post before my flight leaves :P heheh

Apparently I should have something in the post tomorrow. :)

LOL , probably another nicely worded go away letter.

Anyway I'll keep you all posted.

Stay strong you'all , we have nothing to lose , well other than £120 fees :)

I am also like most of you...... I am reclaiming almost £1000 back from the robbers at A&L. I Feel My circumstances are slightly unique, I can back up the personal suffering inflicted on my health during the period of which my beloved bank bleed me dry and left me out to hang - - - AND if A&L arent careful I will be seeking compensation for this also!!!!!!!!!!!
I am just gonna quote my letter I recieved today this should give us all an idea of what we are dealing with!!

"While I understand your concerns, please be assured OUR fees are REASONABLE and COMPETITIVE with those made by other financial organisations!!

The office of Fair Trading (OFT) has commented that they consider the level of late payment fees to be unfair, however, They were actually referring to LATE PAYMENT FEES FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS, which are quite distinct from a banks fee ON CURRENT ACCOUNTS.

Dicussions are ongoing between the Banks and the OFT regarding current accounts and once the outcome is known, Alliance & Leicester will review its position as appropriate.

AS WELL AS MAKING OUR CUSTOMERS AWARE OF OUR FEES WHEN OPENING ACCOUNTS, we also continue to through our website, our branches, by telephone and on the back of statements. IN VIEW OF THIS, I DO NOT FEEL THAT YOU HAVE BEEN UNFAIRLY CHARGED and Regret that I CANNOT agree to refund your fees.

The enclosed leaflet explains the steps we take to deal with complaints. I will KEEP YOUR FILE OPEN FOR 8 WEEKS and if I don not hear from you by then, I will consider the matter closed.

All I can say is GO-AHEAD BIG BANK.... I WILL SEE YA IN COURT!!!! and it will be less than 8 wks. .

THESE PEOPLE ARE SO FULL OF BULL****

DID ANYONE ELSE RECIEVE A LETTER LIKE THIS?????
    Hi Jenny5969
I have received the same letter on the 11th April 07, I then went online that night and put a claim in to take them to court.
On the 27th April 07 i got another letter stating a load of fancy words and them offering me £185.50 and a cheque for that amount, which i sent back to them cancelled as they owe me £2346.46.
They filed an acknowledgment of service and today I got a letter and copy of their defence, looks like im going to court.

Could anyone help, A & L are trying to get my claim struck out because my account is a join one with my wife however i didn't included her as a co-claimant. Can they do this?

What the hell is going on, I'm due in court on 25th May, I mean I got the letter etc from the court to prove it, I check the claim on line it says "Relisting Notice" the hearing on 29th June 2007. This is a total joke, SEBOYLE has the same problem as me

I can't believe they would stoop so low.. There is no way Im ever having anything to do with A&L ever again after all this. Im still awaiting an answer from them after requesting in two letters which address to send official correspondence to. I suppose the letters 'got lost in the post'!!

Hmm I think someones got a customer services problem. Bet if I wanted to invest £500,000 my correspondence wouldnt be 'lost in the post'

    What utter sh***.

Keep up the good work everyone!
