Hi hils101
im going with my gut and what i read somewhere that if its a charge being applied if you go overdrawn then claim it back, thus the 5.00 a day is that
plus im going to claim the 5.00 underfunding fee too just to see what happens.
good luck, ciao for now, MAZSealed Pot Challenge member 1525

I went £3 o/d because they honoured a dd then charged me £25 for paying the measly £3 then did not send me a letter telling me this had happened and charged me £5 per day for being o/d for a total of 22 days. Is anybody gonna let themselves be charged knowing that is gonna cost them £5 per day. For the sake of £3 it cost me £145. I have rung and spoke to nimerous people and i got a letter back saying my complaint had been logged and they can`t pay anything back because of the ongoing test case. I rung again and ended up speaking to some very rude, egotistical call centre workers and a call centre supervisor who was the rudest of the lot. I am off down there tomorrow to confront someone in the branch, as i have now had to put off 2 dd`s to pay off the fees because i just can`t afford it. Then now i have received a statement today telling me this months fees where i again put overdrawn because of them slapping the fees on in the middle of the month when all spare i cash i have is tied up as i am the only wage earner in my house with 2 children, another £55. Iwill be polite but believe me i wont be treated like some sort of mug!!! Watch this space to see what happens!:mad:0

i have two current accounts with alliance and leicester claimed on both using this fantasic website :money: bank eventually made offer to settle on both accounts but this was literally within days of test case being annouced. i accepted one offer but clearly stated in letter that i did not accept offer on account no. 2 however after 3 weeks the bank just paid in both amounts they had offered in respective accounts - where does this leave me now - do i just continue claim irrespective of fact that bank in thier minds think they have settled this?0

if you are unhappy aceept as partial settlement without prejudice but inform them you are pursuing the claim for the rest of your money. Im claiming credit card charges at the mo and i used the template letters on this site. Good luck with your claim!0

I have read most of the A+L article and posts, but I have not found the answer I am looking for.
This post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=7755017&postcount=1 clearly explains A+L's change from charging interest to charging a fixed fee for authorised and unauthorised overdrafts.
I strongly suspect the £5/day unauthorised charge is going to be reclaimable as it is not proportional to the cost incurred by the bank, but is the 50p per day authorised overdraft charge likely to be one of the reclaimable charges?
Depending on your O/D limit and usage 50p/day could be a very good deal for you or it could be a very bad deal i.e. 1000's of %APR.
Thanks

This new 50p/day charge is making me consider a move away from A&L after long years of loyalty. Trouble is, other banks may also change their policy on the fly.0

Not sure if this is the correct Forum to post in, please move it if necessary .
My brother has just gone overdrawn due to benefits incorrectly not making the payment on the usual day. Due to this he has had two direct debits come out on the day he was meant to get his payment. So now he is not only has a £50 charge for the direct debit payments but on top of that a £5 a day charge which has taken him overdrawn to £75 by the time he gets any money on Tuesday he will be £95 overdrawn thus he will have absolutely no money at all for the next two weeks, by the time he receives his next payment he will have around £20 left to pay bills and buy food.
Can anyone offer any help on this situation? In Progress!!!0 -
I'm sorry, but I have found Alliance & Leicester to be extremely unhelpful and immovable, they also don't respond to correspondence. I don't know how they get away with it!
