  • Whoops. I've just seen that long thread about A&L down below, if any mods are around to merge this with that?

    Target £8000
    Amount: £562.23
  • A manager has just rang me back saying it's unlikely the fee will be waived, and it's not £70 I have to pay, it's gonna be an extra £20 on top of that because I have only been charged up to the statement date, which is the 16th, so there are still four days @ £5 per day to add onto that. I'm so angry, I tried being nice, but in the end told him to eff off and put the phone down on him.

I'll try and send a reclaim bank charges letter, but I'm not so lucky that I'll get any charges back, as I reckon that OFT test case will go against me now I've claimed.

Technically no but until the decision is revealed we won't know if we can claim anything back at all.

    Here's hoping.

I have been caught out by their new rules on ODs.
In Oct 2007 they changed the rules & informed people of the new 50p a day charge by adding a note to the monthly statement notification. WHO THE H*LL READS THIS?
I got stung over Xmas by a chq which meant I used uncleared funds. My a/c NEVER showed as overdrawn. They stung me for £1.50. BUT what is totally unbelievable is that their T & Cs allow them to charge OD fees without actually informing you (other than a tiny mention at the top of your online statement).
RESULT? I was then overdrawn by 0.89p for 16 days due to their charges, & they charged me £5 for that period. £5 charge on 0.89p equates to 13000% APR - yes that is correct.
A & L refuses to refund the charges even tho I have said I will withdraw £10k.
As of now I have withdrawn £2000 from my A & L current a/c. I am now £1900 overdrawn. They will charge me £5 a month and I will invest the £2k at 7% in ICICI. :rotfl:
I NEVER intend to repay this money to A&L

I am also wondering about reclaiming alliance and leicster charges.

I went £1.17 overdrawn on my internet account but did not realise until 22 days later by which time the charge of £5 per day had become a £120 charge. I phoned and asked for this to be refunded and they said they may be able to and to phone bank in 5 days. I phoned back to be told they could not refund the charge because it was over the maximum of £50. If I want to get a refund of £50 I have to apply again and phone back in a few more days but this is not guarenteed to be accepted anyway.

In the mean time my charge is increasing by £5 per day.

I really think the charge is excessive and do not want to pay but i am stuck as I am scared of letting the charge build up any further.

Should I pay it and and then try and claim it back ??
